Position: Chief Revenue Officer (CRO)

Overview: As the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) of a large non-profit organization, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and expanding our impact. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead and oversee the development and execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies, leveraging a variety of audiences including corporate, foundation, and individual contributions. You will direct the efforts of our Marketing, Comms, Digital, and Social teams to enhance our fundraising effectiveness and drive best-in-class donor experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

● Develop and implement a multifaceted fundraising strategy to achieve goals, incorporating major donor programs, planned giving, donor advised funds, foundations, corporate grants and partnerships, sponsorships, digital campaigns (email, paid ads, web), and traditional methods such as events and direct mail.

● Provide strategic guidance to the CEO on key fundraising opportunities and ensure effective scheduling for high-priority donor engagements and cultivation activities.

● Conduct quarterly evaluations of fundraising initiatives to ensure quality, productivity, and alignment with organizational goals.

● Oversee and direct a portfolio of top corporate, foundation, and major donors, crafting strategies to enhance their engagement and giving levels.

● Collaborate with the Board of Directors to involve them in executing the fundraising strategy and utilizing their networks.

● Keep the CEO informed about Philanthropy and Marketing activities and share relevant data for progress and planning tracking.

● Facilitate regular interactions between the Philanthropy team and other departments including Marketing, Comms, Digital and Social teams, to share insights, strategies, and impact stories, promoting a collaborative approach.

● Oversee the Marketing, Comms, Digital, and Social teams to ensure alignment with fundraising efforts. Guide their initiatives in creating compelling content and campaigns, managing social media presence, and leveraging digital tools to drive engagement and donations.

● Develop and implement new fundraising programs and strategies to expand donor network and reach.

Team Leadership:

● Drive the fundraising performance of the Philanthropy team, ensuring targets for both in-kind and cash revenue are met or exceeded.

● Lead recruitment, development, and performance management of team members across the Philanthropy, Marketing, Comms, and Digital teams, fostering a supportive and goal-oriented culture.

● Set performance goals for team members, provide constructive feedback, and ensure continuous professional development.

● Cultivate a high-performance team culture with a focus on leadership, accountability, collaboration, and achievement.

● Design and refine processes to ensure effective and efficient accomplishment of fundraising goals.

Marketing and Digital Oversight:

● Direct the Marketing, Comms and Digital teams to create and execute integrated fundraising campaigns, including social media strategies, email marketing, digital advertising, and website optimization.

● Ensure marketing materials and digital content align with fundraising goals and resonate with target audiences.

● Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing and digital campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed to enhance engagement and conversion rates.

Financial and Administrative Management:

● Develop and manage the Philanthropy and Marketing team budgets, ensuring alignment with overall organizational financial plans.

● Oversee the management of fundraising plans, team activities, and donor lifecycle in relevant platforms.

● Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer and leadership team to contribute to the overall organizational budget with accurate forecasts and information.

● Manage a RevOps team that ensures accurate maintenance of donor communications and information in relevant platforms.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 15+ years of relevant experience; advanced degree in a related field preferred.

● Proven track record of increasing revenue for national or global nonprofits and leading development, marketing, and fundraising teams.

● Extensive network within the donor community, including companies, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals.

● Demonstrated ability to lead people, manage systems, and drive substantial revenue growth while fostering a high-performing and innovative work culture.

● Experience managing large-scale online donation programs and expertise in donor lifecycle management and stewardship.

● Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities, delegate tasks, and influence stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals.

● Proficient in building relationships with corporate leaders, foundation representatives, and high-net-worth individuals, including making significant fundraising asks.

● Experience in budget development and departmental management.

● Ability to lead organizational change and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

● Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and CRM software (Salesforce and HubSpot).

Pay: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
