Chief Financial Officer on behalf of our client, a passionate environmental education organization dedicated to inspiring a global community through education, advocacy, research, and species-specific conservation efforts. This full-time, onsite role is available immediately and is open to qualified candidates residing in Southeastern New York.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization. Overseeing finance, HR, and administrative operations, the CFO will work closely with the CEO to shape and execute strategic initiatives that enhance impact. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to optimize resource allocation and align with strategic goals.
- Streamline processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Lead HR initiatives to improve employee performance, engagement, and professional growth.
- Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships, including volunteers, vendors, and strategic partners.
- Provide regular performance reports and strategic insights to the CEO and senior leadership.
- Ensure business systems (finance, data management, fundraising) are fully operational and optimized.
- Monitor industry trends and market dynamics to guide informed decision-making.
- Oversee daily operations, managing Finance, Operations, Human Resources, and Facilities teams.
- Oversee and manage CRM systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality to support accounting, operations, and business administration.
- Lead the timely completion of the 990 filing and audit processes, collaborating with the CEO, auditors, and Board.
- Manage the team overseeing the new campus development, ensuring timelines, budgets, and execution align with goals.
- Oversee facilities management, ensuring safe and efficient operations in compliance with OSHA and regulatory standards, while serving as the liaison between staff and the Facilities Committee of the Board.
- Partner with the Animal Care team to maintain an environment that supports the well-being of the animal population.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion for supporting and furthering the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- 10+ years of experience in operations, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (advanced degree preferred) or equivalent experience (minimum four years) in a related field.
- Proven experience leading CRM integrations, including system management, implementation, and optimization to support organizational operations.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage outsourced vendors effectively.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and hold others accountable.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
- Skilled in time management, strategic planning, and organizational efficiency.
- A thoughtful and effective communicator with a strong grasp of written and visual messaging.
- Highly adaptable, capable of balancing multiple tasks, and working independently or within a team.
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Office 365, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization while receiving a competitive salary of $125,000 and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance, along with disability, life, and pet benefits. Employees also receive 15 days of PTO, 40 hours of sick leave, 40 hours of safe time leave, paid family leave, and 12 paid holidays.
