Chief Financial Officer (Real Estate Finance and/or Mortgages)

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – renewable energy firm

NYC – midtown Manhattan (on site 4 days/wk, 1 remote day)

Compensation: Base $175k - $200k / "all in" target $300k

REQ: At least three years of experience in real estate finance and/or mortgages

Our client is a growing renewable energy provider backed by a private equity (PE) firm specializing in mortgage securities. The CFO will oversee financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, tax, and risk management, shaping strategy and driving growth of the energy company, while also working on select financial projects with the parent company. There is potential for growth within both firms and is a key leadership position.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial functions, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, tax, and risk management.
• Provide leadership and oversight for the accounting team.
• Develop and implement project finance strategies, fundraising initiatives, and investment return analyses.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
• Lead the development and implementation of internal controls and facilitate a potential transition in accounting systems.
• Manage investor relations activities.
• Work on select financial projects with the private equity (PE) parent company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or CPA preferred.
• Ten or more years of senior-level accounting/finance experience.
• At least three years of experience in real estate finance, or mortgages.
• Strong understanding of accounting, regulatory compliance, and tax planning.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Two or more years of experience at a Big 4 accounting firm and audit experience is a plus
• Ability to work on-site in Midtown Manhattan four days per week with one remote day.
• Occasional travel to California may be required
• Exp within a smaller, rapidly growing firm building the accounting/finance infrastructure and team is a plus
• Interest/Knowledge of renewable energy a plus
