Our client is a leading national hospital system, providing high-quality patient care across multiple facilities throughout the U.S. As a growing healthcare organization, they are seeking a strategic and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations and drive long-term financial sustainability. This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for overseeing the financial health of a complex, multi-facility healthcare organization. The CFO will work closely with executive leadership, the board, and key stakeholders to enhance financial performance, optimize operational efficiency, and support the organization's mission.
Position Overview:
The CFO will be responsible for the overall financial strategy, including budgeting, revenue cycle management, financial reporting, capital planning, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a seasoned healthcare finance leader with deep experience in hospital system operations and a strong understanding of reimbursement structures across multiple states. The CFO will also travel nationally to visit hospital locations, ensuring alignment with financial strategies and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Leadership: Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure long-term financial stability and support the hospital system’s strategic goals.
Operational Finance Oversight: Lead all financial functions, including accounting, FP&A, revenue cycle management, treasury, and supply chain finance.
Performance Monitoring: Oversee financial performance, including cost management, profitability analysis, and operational efficiency improvements.
Hospital Revenue Cycle Management: Optimize billing, coding, and collections processes to ensure strong cash flow and reimbursement efficiency.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement policies.
Capital Planning & Investment: Develop and execute capital strategies to support facility expansion, technology upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
Private Equity & Board Collaboration: Provide detailed financial reporting and strategic insights to executive leadership, the board, and private equity stakeholders (if applicable).
M&A & Growth Initiatives: Support strategic growth initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, ensuring seamless financial integration.
National Travel & Site Oversight: Visit hospitals and healthcare facilities across the U.S. to align financial strategies with operational goals, ensure financial discipline, and support on-site leadership teams.
Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and financial discipline.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA strongly preferred.
15+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a CFO or senior leadership role within a national hospital system or large multi-site healthcare organization.
Strong knowledge of hospital finance, including reimbursement models (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers), value-based care, and healthcare revenue cycle management.
Proven success in driving financial performance, optimizing cost structures, and improving operational efficiencies in a healthcare setting.
Experience working with private equity-backed healthcare organizations (if applicable) is a plus.
Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with board members, investors, and executive leadership.
Expertise in healthcare financial regulations, compliance, and reporting standards.
Demonstrated ability to lead M&A processes, including due diligence and financial integration.
Willingness to travel nationally to hospital locations as needed.
