Job Summary: The CFO is responsible for development, management and delivery of the annual business plan for Highway Horticulture and associated entities. These duties include setting revenue, profitability and expense targets in collaboration with the division operating leads and then tracking performance to meet/exceed these targets. Further, the CFO will actively seek opportunities to optimize performance at the division level, identify and implement division level performance metrics and chair regular financial performance reviews with the division heads. The CFO will ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, completion and filing of all financial reports, oversee the hiring and operation of the financial accounting team and regularly report the progress of the company to the senior leadership, Board of Directors and the shareholders. This position reports to the President of Highway Horticulture LLC.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility and accountability for the financial planning and performance of Highway Horticulture and its operating entities: cultivation, manufacturing, wholesale sales, retail sales
  • Lead the development, management and execution of the annual operating business Plan. At a minimum, ensure delivery of the plan targets while seeking to optimize company performance at the division and overall company level
  • Lead the development of the company’s multi year Strategic Plan in collaboration with the senior leadership team. Implement upon approval of the team and Board
  • Responsible for all elements of the company’s financial activity; including budgeting, financial reporting at all levels, tax compliance, regulatory agency compliance and auditing
  • Responsible for the staffing, development and operation of the financial/accounting team
  • Lead/drive the strategic initiatives of the Company through rigorous analysis - costing, ROI, margin, etc. - to optimize profitability and, at a minimum, deliver the annual business plan
  • Assure legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations
  • Identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company
  • Initiate, build and maintain a working understanding/knowledge of the industry and the respective tiers of the market
  • Any and all responsibilities as assigned by the President/CEO

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as CFO in a multi division company
  • CPA
  • Experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing vision
  • Proven ability to work well within an entrepreneurial leadership team, driving collaboration thru earned trust and a team approach
  • Proven ability in developing and leading a team
  • Comfortable with rapid growth and change, including executing mergers and acquisitions, developing high level financial strategies and plans and ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles
  • Familiarity with diverse business functions such as marketing, HR, finance etc
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills
  • Proven analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
