We are seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial strategy of our nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial planning, budgeting, compliance, and reporting while ensuring alignment with our mission and values. A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is essential, as the CFO will play a key role in fostering an inclusive financial strategy that supports our diverse stakeholders and communities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the financial operations of the organization, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.
Oversee fund accounting, grant management, and donor financial reporting to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Prepare and present financial reports to the board of directors, executive leadership, and key stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit financial regulations, and internal controls.
Lead risk management initiatives, including financial audits and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with executive leadership, program directors, and community partners to drive financial decision-making and program funding.
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by integrating equitable financial practices and supporting DEI initiatives.
Supervise and mentor finance and accounting team members, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, grant agencies, and financial institutions as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior nonprofit finance role.
Strong background in nonprofit accounting, grant compliance, and fund management.
Experience implementing DEI-focused financial strategies and supporting inclusive organizational initiatives.
Proficiency in nonprofit accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Nonprofit, Blackbaud, Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment.
