Overview of Role:

The CFO will demonstrate four fundamental pillars: strategy, leadership, operations, and controls. This individual will paint the picture for the business and translate financial data into meaningful commentary, trends, and actions. The CFO will surround themselves with the best talent and make coaching, mentoring, and leadership development a priority through all levels of the finance organization to ensure the right balance of technical, analytical, and leadership skills within their team. This role reports directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

Strategic

  • Deep understanding of the business strategy to prioritize business tasks and processes and get the best return on investment.
  • Understand profit trends and how these will impact the future of the business.
  • Recommend where the business should expand or trim for future growth.
  • Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, find areas of cost reduction and process enhancement
  • Understand the key profit and cost drivers in the business proactively challenging current practices in driving for efficiency and continued improvement, ensuring that a full understanding is achieved and risks associated are highlighted and mitigated in an efficient manner
  • Financial guidance, advice and key insights on strategic opportunities including acquisitions and other business investments to push business performance to new levels

Present complex financial concepts in a non-financial manner to ensure the leadership understand clearly the position and risks associated with changes

Leadership

  • Lead and engage the team with excellent communication skills, team development, and serve as a partner to internal customers.
  • Reliable partner to the CEO and the leadership team, providing input to peers regarding the financial implications of all major business decisions, as well as strategic input in shaping the Company’s business objectives.
  • Effective decision maker ready to implement changes within the company to prevent loss and support growth.
  • Partner with other CFO’s and Financial Director across the Halma plc globally on initiatives.


Operations

  • Generate robust data and analytics to keep the CEO and leadership team informed of the viability of current and future business strategies. Transform analytics-based insights into measurable results and decision tools.
  • Financial planning, budgeting expertise, and discipline to create realistic budgets and short and long-term financial plans. Stay ahead of changes within the company.
  • Track and analyze cash flow management to spot and fix problems.
  • Provide commercial and financial leadership, ensuring all deadlines are met and all deliverables are produced accurately, timely and of requisite quality
  • Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the end-to-end production of financial reporting and planning (Budgets and forecasts) and for co-ordination, presentation and commentary in various formats to support Halma needs and internal reporting requirements.
  • Understand, manage and reconcile the balance sheet, review and advise as to corrective action required and ensure completed.


Controls

  • Risk management to prevent the company from the influence of outside forces such as competitors or inside forces such as bad business decisions. Ensure the business model is strong and resilient enough to withstand bumps in the road.
  • Compliance with applicable regulatory, internal controls, financial reporting processes and other legal requirements.
  • Implement policies, procedures and processes as defined by Halma plc leadership.
  • Support the wider Halma control environment as required


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, CPA required, MBA preferred
  • Healthcare / Healthcare IT / or Healthcare Technology Experience preferred
  • 10 + years progressive, hands-on experience in all areas of financial operations including accounting, reporting, financial analysis and planning, systems and processes, controls, compliance and corporate development
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions
  • Knowledge of global currency, conversions, and accounting
  • Established solid financial foundation with the right systems and team in a lean environment that will allow the business to grow effectively (organically and through M&A) over the next several years
  • Executive experience with SaaS business models and their associated revenue recognition is strongly preferred
  • Recent experience as CFO or #2 at a fast-growing company, with strong familiarity with software revenue recognition, metrics, and best practices
  • Ideally a combination of experience that includes a large, global complex company and a rapidly growing company that has scaled from $50M to $150M+

  • Leadership – effective at building high performing teams, attracting and developing talent, pro-actively and transparently working to ensure the leadership team is operating as a high performing team; provides feedback and coaching; takes swift action when performance or behaviors are not meeting expectations
