Job Statement
Provide the supported Business Unit with comprehensive financial management support. Provide financial consultation and leadership in areas such as industry specific finance and accounting expertise, balance sheet and revenue goals, line of business-specific optimization plans and acquisitions, staffing and resource allocation, and other areas effecting profitability, operating leverage, and strategic direction. Lead a team of finance and accounting professionals to provide a full spectrum of finance and accounting expertise and leadership in the areas of financial reporting and analysis, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) compliance and internal accounting controls, external and regulatory reporting, planning and forecasting, strategic planning, and investment/resource allocation. This position will report to the Business Unit Manager (President/CEO) with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Executive Committee / Senior Leadership of the Business Unit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide financial leadership and consultation for supported Business Unit. Actively participate with Business Unit leadership to develop and analyze business plans affecting profitability, operating leverage, and strategic direction. Responsibilities include development and evaluation of business cases, development of appropriate models, financial performance reporting, line of business review reporting and participation, evaluating product and client profitability, and supporting and overseeing pricing decisions.
2. Manage the accounting responsibilities for the supported Business Unit. Responsibilities include: ensuring GAAP compliance, managing the monthly accounting cycle, maintaining appropriate controls to ensure the timely and accurate posting of entries for all transactions, ensuring accurate completion of closing packages and management reports including explanation of changes and narrative on results of operations, and ensuring all assigned account reconcilements are up-to-date and in compliance with reconcilement policy. Provide first line execution and oversight for financial reporting controls and risk for Finance processes. Provide accounting guidance to Business Unit leadership and consult with Accounting Policy, as appropriate, on matters including but not limited to business combinations, intercompany transactions, capitalization, revenue recognition, cost allocations and accrual and fixed asset accounting.
3. Manage regulatory/external reporting responsibilities for supported Business Unit. Responsibilities include oversight and support for quarterly earnings releases and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, periodic regulatory reporting including Y9-C, Y14M/Qs, and Regulation W compliance for supported Business Unit. Manage regulatory (SEC / SOC-1) exams and audits as it relates to finance and accounting.
4. Manage the forecast process for supported Business Unit. Responsible for oversight of the monthly forecast for balance sheet and income statement, and centrally forecast accounts, as applicable, including analysis, effective challenge, and consultation and communication with Business Unit leadership and Executive Management. Accountable for the accuracy of forecasts including upcoming month and quarter, and responsible for maintaining current and future full-year forecasts updated with current information. Support Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) forecasting process, as required.
5. Manage the annual profit planning process for supported Business Unit. Responsible for the overall development and execution of the profit plan and centrally planned accounts, as applicable, including analysis, effective challenge, consultation and communication with Business Unit leadership and Executive Management, as appropriate. Accountable for the accuracy of profit plan. Serve as central coordination point between the Financial Planning and Analysis Department and the supported Business Unit.
6. Manage or support (as applicable) the strategic planning process for the supported Business Unit. Provide leadership in development of strategic plans, effective challenge and execution of, or support for, (as applicable) the strategic planning processes for the business unit in support of the Bank’s annual strategic plan.
7. Manage or support (as applicable) portfolio funding and resource allocation processes for supported Business Unit. Responsible for ensuring integration of investment and project requests with the strategic planning process in support of Truist’s and Business Unit’s strategic and financial objectives. Ensure the appropriate documentation and financial support for business case development and modeling for capital expenditure and resource requests presented for funding.
8. Manage and lead a team of finance and accounting professionals. Responsibilities include hiring, performance evaluations, salary changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations within established policies and guidelines. Guide career development, succession planning and associate engagement. Ensure that the Truist purpose, mission, values and culture is understood and delivered by teammates.
Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or comparable field or equivalent education and related training or experience
2. Fifteen years of demonstrated success in related role(s)
3. Ten years of management experience in banking / financial services
4. Thorough knowledge of the banking and financial services industry and associated financial management practices and concepts
5. Strong communication skills including: writing skills, verbal communication skills and personal presentation skills; ability to create precise, targeted communication that creates ease of understanding of complex issues
6. Strong analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge of financial forecasting techniques, financial theory and application, discounted cash flow analysis, goodwill testing, project analysis, capital budgeting theory and other related financial modeling
7. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in a business-related field
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
