Base pay range

$130,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Salary: $130k - $170k

Status: Exempt

Location: Richmond, Va.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer


Summary:

The CFO has overall responsibility for developing, implementing, maintaining and evaluating the financial systems, financial best practices and fiscal services of the Health Center. As part of the health centers leadership team, the CFO advises the CEO and other leadership team members on all Health Center financial matters.


Essential Functions:

  • Acts as Chief Financial Officer for Health Centers; directs budget development.
  • Develops and oversees fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Administers and manages all fiscal and budget operations and assists in clinic planning and leadership.
  • Develops and enhances financial management, processes and practices.
  • Establishes and maintains billing system that efficiently and effectively interfaces with patient records.
  • Establishes and maintains quality control over accounting practices.
  • Oversees successful annual audit.
  • Develops and produces monthly financial reports and quarterly trends for financial and productivity performance and forecasts.
  • Evaluates ongoing financial planning tools to support the clinic’s strategic direction, goals and its mission.
  • Maintains, monitors and evaluates the clinic’s productivity and financial targets.
  • Develops and implements cost-benchmarking and best practices study with other health centers as appropriate.
  • Develops procedures and practices to maximize third party payer reimbursements.
  • Develops financial and provider productivity measures including but not limited to production targets, financial costs, patient flow, referral tracking, performance of staff toward clinical and preventive outcomes and cultural competency of staff.
  • Directs Health Center and other public program reimbursement processes, ensuring full reimbursement.
  • Defines performance standards for finance staff and conducts regular performance evaluations.
  • Supervises and coaches financial staff for performance improvement and disciplinary action.
  • Represents the health center on fiscal issues with the government, auditors, managed care plans and state agencies.
  • Participates in recruitment and interviewing of financial administration personnel and provides recommendations on the hiring and performance of financial personnel.
  • Leads and supervises Financial Team.
  • Other duties as assigned by CEO.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting or Finance, Master’s highly preferred.
  • Minimum five years’ experience as an accountant with a minimum of two being in healthcare financing including Health Center reimbursement.
  • Experience in supervising professional and clerical accounting staff


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience and skills in all aspects of healthcare finance including accounting, patient accounting, collections, accounts payable and public program reimbursement (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.)
  • Proven leadership and management skills and ability, including ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
  • Proven ability to generate effective financial reports from financial data systems
