The Opportunity
Silverchair is seeking a first-rate Chief Growth Officer to further develop and execute our company’s business development and customer success strategy across existing and new product lines and to help take us to the next level of growth. The CGO at Silverchair will deliver new client sales in current and new end-markets while expanding our existing customer relationships with education, research, and professional publishers. Silverchair's CGO will lead the Business Development team in defining and activating the sales strategy, expanding revenue, and by partnering with our product function as we assess product-market fit and refine our go-to-market plans. Concurrently, the CGO will strengthen the relationship between Silverchair and its customers, leading the Customer Success (account management) team in deepening customer relationships and surfacing enhanced revenue opportunities. The CGO also leads the Marketing team, ensuring Silverchair's marketing strategy represents our exceptional brand well and supports the revenue objectives of our organization.
As the CGO role at Silverchair is new, the incumbent will need to invest in further developing the Business Development and Customer Success teams and processes, including refining sales operations, implementing marketing automation, improving revenue/sales pipeline and reporting practices, and instituting a programmatic strategy for mid-market expansion. What You Will Be Doing
- Expand and lead the Business Development and Customer Success teams to maximize new and existing customer revenues and to meet customer objectives
- Refine and execute a strategic plan for revenue growth at Silverchair
- With Product, develop plans and processes to continually evaluate product-market fit and refine our go to market strategy and market segmentation for Silverchair’s new products
- Develop pricing strategies to support the strategic plan
- Champion the customer experience by promoting a customer-centered approach across the organization
- As a member of the executive team, contribute to Silverchair's strategic planning and decision-making process
- In collaboration with the executive team, establish revenue targets for the organization
- Lead by influence across departments to execute customer strategies
- Lead and develop members of the Business Development, Customer Success, and Marketing teams
- Recommend and oversee company participation in industry events and other business development activities
- Continually monitor and report on progress toward revenue goals and department expenses
- Monitor, understand, and report on market and industry trends

- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, marketing or sales management
- Master's of business administration (MBA) preferred
Preferred Skills / Experience
- 15+ years’ experience in sales in SaaS, publishing, and/or professional services organizations
- A record of consistently meeting or exceeding revenue goals
- Proven ability to hire and retain top talent.
- Experience growing a business and managing a P&L
- Experience working with private-equity-backed companies preferred
- Experience supporting new product or end-market expansions
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high growth environment
- Experience working with small, self-serve clients, while also navigating large, complex, enterprise customers with varying needs
- Proven expertise in sales strategy planning and execution, sales operations, account management, business planning, and sales support management
Location and Travel:
Although weekly presence in our Charlottesville, VA, office is preferred, we are open to a hybrid work arrangement. In addition, you will need to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally for customer site visits, conferences, and related events.
