$225,000.00/yr - $240,000.00/yr

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER


Overview

A leading automotive dealership group in the Washington, DC metro area is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join its executive team. With over 30 years of success, the organization operates 9 import-brand dealerships and generates annual revenues exceeding $600 million. This role is critical as the company transitions into its next phase of growth under second-generation leadership.


Qualifications

  • CPA strongly preferred (Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management required).
  • Prior public accounting experience, ideally with automotive industry clients.
  • 10+ years as a CFO or Controller in a multi-location automotive group, family-owned operation, or large dealership network.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial operations for the dealership group, including affiliated real estate holdings and ancillary businesses.
  • Collaborate with ownership, General Managers, and department leaders to align financial strategy with operational goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and train accounting teams to foster collaboration, process improvement, and accountability.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and optimize financial efficiency across all locations.
  • Maintain rigorous accounting controls to mitigate risks of fraud, theft, and compliance gaps.
  • Manage relationships with external partners: CPA firms (GAAP compliance, tax strategy), legal counsel, financial institutions, and payroll/insurance vendors.
  • Ensure adherence to federal/state regulations (tax filings, OSHA, FTC, Department of Labor, and Motor Vehicle Administration).


Key Skills & Experience

  • Expertise in automotive Dealer Management Systems (Reynolds & Reynolds/Tekkion).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and financial data integration from external platforms.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial reports, negotiate contracts, and oversee compliance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
