Position Overview
A leading healthcare nonprofit in Hawaii is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee financial strategy, compliance, and operations for a multi-location nonprofit healthcare organization. This role is ideal for a seasoned finance executive with deep expertise in nonprofit healthcare accounting, grants management, and financial audits. The CFO will play a key role in driving financial sustainability, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and optimizing revenue cycle processes while supporting the organization’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality healthcare to the community.
Responsibilities
Lead financial strategy, budgeting, and forecasting to support long-term sustainability.
Oversee all financial reporting, audits, and compliance with GAAP, HRSA, Medicaid/Medicare, and grant funding requirements.
Manage a complex grants portfolio, ensuring proper allocation and regulatory adherence.
Optimize revenue cycle management, including reimbursement processes from government programs and private insurers.
Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO, Board of Directors, and leadership team.
Supervise and develop the finance, accounting, and billing teams.
Skills
FQHC and nonprofit financial management (including grant accounting and compliance).
GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and audits.
Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement and HRSA compliance.
Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Revenue cycle optimization and financial strategy development.
Leadership and team development in a healthcare finance setting.
Requirements
5+ years of progressive financial management experience.
5+ years in an FQHC, nonprofit, or healthcare finance leadership role.
Strong background in federal and state grant management, audits, and compliance.
Experience leading financial strategy, reporting, and board presentations.
Bachelor's degree required; CPA, CMA, or Master’s in Accounting/Finance preferred.
