The Organisation

Vasey Communities is a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to providing quality retirement living options. While Its origins trace back to 1962 improving conditions for war widows and their families, today Vasey Communities looks to the future to promote an independent and dignified lifestyle for residents over 55 from all backgrounds. With a current portfolio comprising five different communities supporting over 350 residents.
The Opportunity

The incoming Chief Financial Officer will absorb a growth mandate for the organisation harnessing strength of balance sheet that the organisation entertains to best meet the needs of an ever increasingly complex social need. Reporting to the CEO and leading a small team the CFO will be responsible for devising and presenting multiple asset management and future investment strategies to the Board, as well as carry direct financial oversight of future expansion projects. In addition to this, the CFO will also;
  • Oversee all financial, accounting, and payroll functions, ensuring adherence to Australian Accounting Standards and statutory requirements. 
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting to the CEO and Board to support informed decision-making. 
  • Lead the annual budgeting cycle, monthly reporting, and forecasting to ensure financial stability and strategic planning. 
  • Foster collaboration across the organisation, engage key stakeholders, and develop a high-performing finance team aligned with Vasey’s values.
 
About You

We are seeking a commercially focused and growth orientated finance Executive driven by maximising an investment property portfolio that provides benefit across a much-needed area of our society. Furthermore, the successful candidate will have;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with CPA, CA, or equivalent certification. 
  • Deep knowledge of accounting standards, tax-exempt requirements, and regulatory compliance, ideally across the not-for-profit sector.
  • Proven ability to prepare audited statements, budgets, and forecasts, and present to boards and stakeholders. 
  • Track record in managing investment strategies across a diverse property portfolio. 
  • Strong background in financial controls, compliance, and risk management.
