Chief Financial Officer

Job Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive responsible for financial health and sustainability. The CFO will oversee financial planning, budgeting, risk management, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with nonprofit regulations and best practices. They will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership to develop and implement strategies that support the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Strategy & Planning:

• Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure long-term sustainability and mission alignment.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Oversee the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.

1. Financial Management & Reporting:

• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the CEO, Board of Directors, and relevant stakeholders.
• Prepare and present financial statements, forecasts, and variance reports.
• Manage cash flow, investments, and financial reserves.

1. Compliance & Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations, including IRS and GAAP standards.
• Oversee audits, tax filings, and grant reporting requirements.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks.

1. Fundraising & Grant Management:

• Support fundraising efforts by providing financial insights and ensuring proper fund allocation.
• Manage restricted and unrestricted funds in compliance with donor requirements.
• Assist in preparing grant applications and financial reports for funders.

1. Operational Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team.
• Work closely with program and development teams to align financial planning with organizational goals.
• Implement and optimize financial systems, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• CPA, CFA, or relevant certification strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 10+ years of financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a nonprofit setting.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
