Chief Financial Officer Role:
As the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, driving team development, ensuring compliance, and implementing strategic policies to enhance overall organizational efficiency and growth
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
Conduct performance evaluations, ensure proper training for staff, and make decisions related to hiring, termination, and disciplinary actions.
Design departmental structures to ensure efficient workflow.
Oversee the success of the Accounting and Accounts Payable departments by providing strong leadership to department leaders, fostering collaboration, and driving performance.
Implement strategies and policies to foster continuous improvement, skill development, and alignment with organizational goals to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and overall team effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, holding the department accountable for compliance and best practices.
Provide executive management with timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progress.
Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare complex reports summarizing business activities and financial positions, including income, expenses, and earnings.
Recommend and implement corporate strategies, objectives, and policies related to finance and assigned areas of responsibility.
Advise management on necessary adjustments to operational and reporting requirements.
Manage and direct complex accounting activities related to asset management.
Lead budget preparation and review, including preparing necessary supporting documentation and justifications.
Manage internal audits to ensure appropriate controls and activities.
Coordinate external audits and serve as the liaison with external auditors.
Ensure all project activities and reporting comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Oversee tax filings for the organization.
Collaborate with the team to ensure adequate and appropriate insurance coverage and manage relationships with insurance companies.
Establish and implement internal policies, processes, and procedures to protect company assets.
Identify and manage financial risks associated with market fluctuations, lending terms, and investments.
Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and industry standards, including relevant SEC regulations.
Develop and implement strategies to mitigate financial and operational risks.
Manage cash handling and banking relationships, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
Establish and maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions.
Participate in acquisition and growth activities, including investigations, evaluations, and investment analysis.
Manage and develop relationships with lenders to support growth expectations.
Oversee and manage fund and other investment structures related to the organization’s investments.
Collaborate with the legal department to ensure proper fund structuring and compliance.
Ensure financial reporting meets the needs of fund stakeholders, including providing quarterly and annual performance updates.
Develop programs to attract and retain competent staff within the finance department.
Ensure continuous growth and development of the finance team.
Provide leadership to department leads, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Stay up to date with industry standards and best practices, fostering a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Guide teams in leveraging technological advancements, optimizing accounting processes, and enhancing financial reporting accuracy, while supporting operational excellence and scalability across accounting functions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Drive continuous improvement through enhanced standardization of processes and practices by holding teams accountable.
Chief Financial Officer Background Profile:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required (MBA or other advanced degree preferred). CPA or CFA certification is mandatory.
At least 10 years of experience in finance and accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior financial leadership position.
Strong background in real estate accounting, property management, or similar industries, with in-depth knowledge of fund structures and investor relations.
Demonstrated success in overseeing complex financial operations, including fund management, budgeting, financial reporting, and cash flow analysis.
Expertise in accounting software and ERP systems, with experience in platforms such as Yardi, Juniper Square, or other similar tools considered a plus.
Advanced skills in financial modeling and forecasting.
Proven leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and developing finance teams.
Skilled in managing departmental structures and improving workflow efficiencies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data effectively to executive leadership.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, insurance providers, investors, and financial institutions.
Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience interpreting and analyzing large datasets.
