Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer of Cryoport Systems with dotted-line reporting to the Corporate CFO of Cryoport, Inc., the parent company, the Chief Financial Officer of Cryoport Systems is responsible for leading the financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting, reporting within Cryoport Systems and to Cryoport Inc., as well as driving continuous financial improvement projects and efficiencies related to financial processes and profitability. This role will oversee treasury and cash management, evaluate acquisitions, and lead integration activities, while managing all global accounting operations for Cryoport Systems.
The CFO will work closely with the CEO and the executive leadership team to provide strategic financial leadership and proactive analysis of business results against goals and KPIs and develop and implement related action plans. The CFO will also ensure that all accounting procedures and reporting conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, and that robust internal controls over financial reporting (SOX) are in place globally and are continuously improved.
This position requires experience in high-growth, global environments, working in fast-growth, high demand businesses, particularly in publicly traded companies, with strong expertise in financial strategy, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, deep technical accounting knowledge, and a proactive approach to managing financial operations across global markets, including those driven by both organic growth and acquisitions. Experience as CFO in a public, global company is desirable.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (include But Are Not Limited To):
- Provide financial strategy, guidance and oversight.
- Work with the CEO and entire executive team to develop strategy, plan, forecast and track financial performance and identify corrective measures proactively to drive revenue growth, organizational efficiencies, and profitability, as necessary.
- Through planning and analysis, responsible for the following: o Recommendations on methods to improve revenue capture, margin expansion and overall business performance o Income statement forecasting on a quarterly basis
- Planning, development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
- Establish and maintain appropriate analytical tools and reporting to ensure effective, efficient management of resources o Ad hoc analysis as needed
- Departmental and geographic financial reporting
- Analyze the operating results versus approved plans and objectives, and provide standardized reporting/analysis for the following: Develop and measure profitability analysis by business unit, product and/or service and location; Analyze new opportunities; Strategic financial analysis and recommendations; Develop strategic recommendations for divisional allocations
- Develop and implement a robust, results-oriented cost accounting function to margin and pricing analysis and decisions.
- Provide internal management reporting and analysis to executive management, relevant business units.
- Provide accurate reporting and disclosures to the parent company for SEC reporting purposes.
- Ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), including maintaining and testing internal controls over financial reporting. Implement process improvements to strengthen the company’s control environment. Coordinate with external auditors and internal teams to facilitate SOX audits. Responsible for the strategic planning process linking financial performance with outcomes (ROI) for all strategic initiatives and projects.
- Contract review and negotiations of contracts, strategic relationships and acquisitions, ensuring financial terms align with company strategy and goals.
- Collaborates effectively with other business units within the Cryoport family of companies to drive revenue and cost synergies.
- Drive automation and minimize errors in financial processes, invoicing, and ensure revenue capture is a key objective.
- Work with key departmental leaders on efficient capital acquisition and cost management.
- Serve as liaison relative to all financial issues

Qualifications And Education Requirements:
- Seasoned finance leader with 15-20 years of progressive professional experience and a proven track record of building and sustaining solid relationships with senior operating executives.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance and CPA certification is required;
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience as CFO in a public, global company is desirable; public, global company experience is required.
- Experience in life sciences tools, services and/or logistics services is desirable.
