We are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a cutting-edge pre-clinical biotech client. This role will play a pivotal part in driving the company’s financial strategy, operations, and—most critically—supporting fundraising activities to secure capital and fuel growth toward our next key inflection point.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will serve as a close strategic partner, bringing financial discipline, operational insight, and investor engagement experience to help shape and execute the company's vision. This is an exciting opportunity to help scale a high-potential biotech business focused on breakthrough science and transformative therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Leadership:

  • Lead the company’s fundraising efforts, including preparation of materials, investor outreach, due diligence processes, and deal structuring.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with venture capitalists, family offices, institutional investors, and other key financial stakeholders.
  • Develop compelling financial narratives that align with scientific and strategic milestones.

Financial Strategy & Planning:

  • Own the company’s financial model, planning processes, and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure rigorous cashflow management to support the pre-clinical development plan.
  • Support capital allocation decisions and long-term financial planning.

Board & Investor Reporting:

  • Prepare and present timely, accurate, and insightful financial reports to the CEO, Board of Directors, and existing investors.
  • Develop reporting infrastructure and KPIs aligned with the needs of a growth-stage biotech company.

Operational Finance & Compliance:

  • Oversee accounting, tax, audit, and compliance functions, working with external partners and advisors.
  • Establish internal controls and financial governance appropriate for a scaling biotech company.
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, legal counsel, and other finance-related partners.

Strategic Partnering:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and broader executive team, contributing to business strategy and commercial planning.
  • Support any future licensing, M&A, or strategic partnering activity.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as CFO or senior financial executive in a biotech, life sciences, or high-growth venture-backed company.
  • Strong track record of fundraising in the life sciences sector, especially with early-stage or pre-revenue companies.
  • Deep understanding of financial modelling, capital markets, corporate finance, and investor relations.
  • Experience working closely with CEOs, Boards, and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, and lean environment.
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification; MBA is a plus.
  • Based in or able to commute regularly to London (hybrid working model).

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to help shape the future of a high-potential biotech company from a pivotal pre-clinical stage.
  • Collaborative, mission-driven leadership team and Board.
  • Competitive compensation and equity participation.
  • Flexible hybrid working environment with London HQ base.
