The Problem: Despite its potential, solar supplies just 5% of global energy—limited by fundamental technical barriers. Minor shading can reduce power output by 90%, while systems remain bulky, expensive, time-consuming to install, and prone to failure.

Optivolt's Breakthrough: We realized deep integration between solar panels and power electronics unlocks an entirely new design space for innovation. This led us to inventing the Balancer (8 patents issued, 27 pending), an advanced power electronics device which embeds inside solar panels. Balancers work by shuffling power from stronger to weaker zones in the panel to keep power flowing, maximizing energy output and reliability.

Balancers cut the cost of solar by up to 40%, which for the first time, makes solar cheaper than the grid—everywhere. Recognizing the impact, the U.S. Department of Energy is participating in funding of Optivolt’s development.

Company Background:

Optivolt was founded in 2017 by Rohit Kalyanpur, a Thiel Fellow and recognized leader in the solar industry and startup ecosystem. Since its inception, Optivolt has successfully raised $25 million and, in 2025 alone, is on track to deliver over 100,000 Balancer units to customers nationwide. With production now scaling, our primary focus is operational excellence and accelerating our growth trajectory.

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful candidate to function as our Business Operations Manager with the purpose of owning and streamlining our day-to-day operational functions. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this role offers the opportunity to work directly with our founder and CEO. You will design and implement systems that enhance our operational efficiency across finance, accounting, HR, logistics, legal, and facilities. You will work closely with our trusted external partners to ensure our processes support the company’s aggressive growth and mission to redefine solar energy.

A self-driven, resourceful individual with strong financial acumen and exceptional organizational skills. They thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, capable of managing multiple priorities and building efficient processes. Excellent communication and relationship skills are essential, deep financial experience is highly valued, and experience in early-stage startups or venture capital is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Operations:

• Oversee core accounting functions including taxes, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and investor reporting in collaboration with our external CPA’s.
• Manage day-to-day operations by processing invoices, purchase orders, and overseeing purchasing activities.
• Coordinate insurance-related tasks independently to ensure proper coverage and compliance.

Legal & Compliance:

• Manage general legal paperwork, contracts, regulatory filings, and compliance matters, operating independently while aligning with executive direction.

Manage Vendors & Oversee Logistics:

• Oversee relationships with vendors such as software providers, service firms, and insurance carriers, including negotiating contracts and maintaining service standards.
• Coordinate outsourced facilities operations to meet our operational needs efficiently.
• Coordinate shipments between HQ and our partners, to ensure smooth and timely delivery.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in accounting, finance, or business operations, preferably in early-stage startups or venture capital.
• Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Exceptional organizational skills with acute attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple critical tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills—both internally and with external partners—while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
• Self-motivated, resourceful, and quick to learn with minimal supervision.
• Bonus: Experience in early-stage startups or within a venture capital environment.
