Business Operations Manager

Summary:

We are seeking a Business Operations Manager with expertise in nutrition, dietary supplements, and wellness startups to oversee and optimize business operations, R&D, supply chain, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nutraceuticals, functional foods, or health-focused consumer products and a passion for scaling innovative wellness brands.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations & Manufacturing Optimization

• Oversee end-to-end operations, from product development to market launch. 
• Develop and implement SOPs for production, supply chain, and quality control. 
• Optimize manufacturing processes (contract manufacturing, in-house production, co-packers). 
• Ensure compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), FDA, NSF, and other industry regulations.
• Collaborate with formulators, and production teams to refine product quality. 

2. Financial Management & Business Growth

• Manage budgets, cost control, and financial planning to ensure profitability. 
• Oversee pricing strategies, vendor negotiations, and product margin analysis. 

3. Research & Development (R&D) – Nutraceuticals & Functional Foods 

• Lead product innovation and scientific research in dietary supplements and wellness formulations.
• Work with R&D teams to develop evidence-based nutraceutical products (e.g., vitamins, probiotics, adaptogens).
• Stay updated on scientific studies, clinical trials, and consumer trends to drive new product development.
• Collaborate with universities, research institutions, and regulatory agencies for clinical validation. 
• Ensure that all formulations are backed by science, sustainable, and consumer-friendly. 

4. Market Strategy & Business Development 

• Analyze market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitor insights to refine product strategy. 
• Assist in launching new dietary supplement brands, wellness programs, or functional food products.
• Develop and oversee branding, marketing, and distribution strategies.
• Establish partnerships with healthcare professionals, retailers, e-commerce platforms, and wellness influencers.
• Support direct-to-consumer (DTC) and retail expansion efforts.

5. Compliance, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs

• Ensure compliance with FSSAI, FDA etc., and Indian or international supplement regulations.
• Oversee third-party testing, certifications (e.g., NSF, USP, Organic, Non-GMO, Vegan, Kosher, Halal).
• Manage product labelling, claims substantiation, and safety assessments.
• Conduct risk assessments and internal audits to maintain regulatory standards. 

Qualifications & Skills: 

• Education: BSc/MSc/MBA in Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Science, Healthcare Management, or related field. 
• Experience: Minimum 5-10 years in dietary supplement manufacturing, wellness startups, or healthcare business management.
• Strong knowledge of nutraceutical formulation, supply chain management, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in clinical research, functional ingredient sourcing, or supplement branding.
• Proficiency in financial planning, operations scaling, and startup growth strategies.
• Leadership experience in team building, project management, and business scaling.
• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. 

Preferred Certifications (if applicable):

• Certified Professional in Nutraceuticals (CPN) or Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS)
• Certified Healthcare Business Manager (CHBM) 
• GMP, HACCP, or FDA regulatory training certifications
