Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)


Type: Unpaid Volunteer

Commitment: 1-4 hours per week

Role Overview:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead the finance team at SOMOS.tech, overseeing the financial health and sustainability of the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring that SOMOS.tech can continue to support Hispanic and Latinx communities in tech through effective financial management and strategic planning.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies to support the organization’s mission and goals.
  2. Provide financial forecasts and analysis to guide decision-making.
  3. Budget Management: : Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  4. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  5. Financial Reporting:Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  6. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  7. Fundraising and Grants: Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop financial plans for grant applications and fundraising campaigns.
  8. Manage the financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
  9. Financial Operations: Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and banking.
  10. Implement and maintain financial policies and procedures.
  11. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and support to team members.
  12. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  13. Chapter Support: Ensure the financial success and sustainability of SOMOS.tech chapters.
  14. Provide financial guidance and support to chapter leaders to help them achieve their goals.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of SOMOS.tech.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


  • Note: All volunteer roles are required to attend a bi-weekly 30 min scrum meeting online. Each volunteer role is committed to 1.5-4 hours a month.
