The
EVP, Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the financial soundness of the organization balancing fiscal oversight with strategic decision making to ensure optimal results, both for the organization and for our credit union members. As a member of the executive leadership team, this position drives the direction and success of the company, using understanding of the company’s financial position and human capital capabilities, to identify and deliver on business objectives that fulfill the organization’s mission.
Areas Of Responsibility Include
- Strategy and Leadership
- Leadership team member, identifying short- and long-term business objectives and the finance roadmap. Trusted advisor to business areas. Uses business acumen to encourage innovative solutions.
- May serve on a CUSO (division of Corporate One), serves on Asset/Liability Committee and Enterprise-Wide Risk Management committee.
- Financial Treasury and Operations
- Provides treasury functions oversight, oversees all aspects of back-office financial operations. Advises business areas regarding contracts financial commitments.
- Financial Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensures robust internal controls and accurate reporting and compliance. Works with auditors to ensure appropriate oversight of assets.
- Business Oversight Responsibilities
- May provide oversight to one or more of the following areas: Human Resources, Facilities, Balance Sheet Analytics, Business Analytics.
While candidates can be based in any state where we have a presence, we prefer individuals in the greater Columbus, Ohio, or Jacksonville, Florida, area where we have a physical office presence. Our work environment is primarily home/virtual with office onsite presence as appropriate. Some air/road travel required.
This position has a compensation range of approximately $275,000 to $400,000 commensurate with experience and capabilities.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field. MBA degree or CPA designation required (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 15 years of related progressive experience in corporate or public accounting as well as 10 years in financial institutions and/or financial payment services industry. Solid knowledge of treasury and accounting operations with a track record of aligning financial planning with the company’s long-term goals and market landscape. Experience establishing, maintaining and monitoring internal controls over financial reporting.
- SOX 404 or FDICIA experience preferred. Experience with managing non-financial business functions preferred.
- Knowledge of investment instruments and strategies to ensure the best returns for the organizations and its members preferred.
- Understanding of the broader business environment and economic trends required (includes business acumen).
- Critical thinking and innovative problem-solving abilities to identify effective approaches and solutions. (Entrepreneurial mindset.)
- Able to interpret complex financial data to make data driven decisions.
- Able to lead and motivate a team and collaborate with others throughout the organization to synchronize financial as part of other business strategies.
- Able to clearly convey financial information to stakeholders, negotiate effectively, make persuasive arguments.
- Proven track record as an ethical business role model with professional and leadership credibility. Demonstrated leadership ability reflecting our values: value everyone, be a team player, do the right thing, think outside the box, and being your best.
