Position Summary

The CFO will oversee all financial activities including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role that requires a leader who can manage a lean team and dive into the day-to-day accounting processes when needed. The ideal candidate will be a strong business partner to the CEO and operations leadership, bringing financial rigor, systems thinking, and a pragmatic approach to supporting operational growth. An active or inactive CPA license is required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the finance and accounting functions, including month-end close, financial reporting, cash management, and internal controls
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO on business planning, capital allocation, and financial performance
  • Prepare and present financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to ownership and other stakeholders
  • Implement and maintain efficient accounting systems and processes suitable for a multi-unit restaurant operation
  • Lead a lean finance team with a focus on mentorship, accountability, and process improvement
  • Oversee external audit, tax, and compliance requirements
  • Develop and track KPIs and operational dashboards that inform strategic decisions
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, HR, and IT to support data-driven decision-making
  • Participate in strategic initiatives such as new store openings, remodels, M&A activity, and systems implementation


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA is a plus
  • Active or inactive CPA required
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, ideally in a restaurant, hospitality, or retail environment
  • Prior experience in a multi-unit business with a preference for quick service or franchise operations
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial controls, and operational accounting
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented, comfortable jumping into daily accounting tasks when needed
  • Experience with restaurant or retail accounting software (e.g., Restaurant365, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, etc.)
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and build a lean, high-performing team
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
