We are seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and elevate the financial operations of our nonprofit organization. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a critical role in ensuring long-term sustainability, compliance, and fiscal health as we continue to serve our community and advance our mission.
As a member of the executive leadership team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, forecasting, compliance, and long-term planning. The ideal candidate will be an experienced nonprofit finance professional with exceptional analytical skills, strategic insight, and a strong commitment to stewardship and transparency.
Key Responsibilities Of The Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Financial Strategy & Oversight
Develop and implement robust financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Lead the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Ensure the integrity of all financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial performance to advise executive leadership.
Accounting & Compliance
Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and the general ledger.
Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure timely compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and tax filings.
Manage external relationships with banks, auditors, and financial vendors.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Provide financial leadership and guidance to program and departmental managers.
Support and lead the Finance Committee in partnership with the Board of Directors.
Board and Executive Collaboration
Present regular financial updates, reports, and forecasts to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Collaborate with the Board to shape fiscal policies and guide financial decision-making.
Provide strategic insight to senior leadership to support key initiatives and growth.
Strategic Planning
Partner with the Executive Director and leadership team in organizational planning.
Maintain and enhance financial forecasting tools for long-term sustainability.
Identify risks and opportunities, supporting data-driven decision-making across departments.
Qualifications For The Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA required
Mix of accounting and finance experience required
Experience in non-profits is ideal
Extensive knowledge of nonprofit accounting, audit practices, and federal grant compliance.
Proven leadership skills with experience managing finance teams and cross-departmental collaboration.
Strong command of financial systems and ERP tools; experience with budgeting software preferred.
Ability to communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences.
