Orenda is on a mission to make the grid more efficient with batteries and software. We develop, own, and operate distributed energy resources in dense urban environments. Each day, our work bridges the gap between renewable generation and electricity consumption.

Orenda’s first projects, located in New York City, will go live in 2025. We are building a team of highly motivated and incredibly talented individuals who wish to contribute to the success of these projects and the company.

Role

Orenda is seeking the founding member and lead of the Finance team. The CFO will serve as a member of the executive team and interact with the Board. Responsibilities will include:

• Leadership - Build and lead an extremely high-performing NYC-based capital markets and corporate finance team
• Capital Markets Raise – We anticipate needing to raise more than $1 billion in project finance, project equity and corporate equity by 2030
• Investor Relations – Manage relationship and communications with JVs, Investor, and project financiers.
• Risk Management – Own all financial risk management processes
• Financial Planning & Analysis – Work with Capital Markets, Corporate Finance teams to determine immediate and long revenue needs and plan accordingly. Lead the long-term treasury function at Orenda.
• Valuation – Valuate the portfolio of Orenda projects on a recurring basis, to determine progress and communicate with investors.
• Project Finance – Lead and build a project finance team to administer construction, equipment and IX finance, non-recourse project debt, and tax equity financings, as well as ad-hoc project sales and potentially project acquisitions.
• Corporate Finance – Manage, supervise and support the Corporate Finance Director and corporates finance team, in their (i.) administration of project controls, (ii.) accounting and production of financial statements, (iii.) cash flow forecasting, (iv.) audit and tax processes, and (v.) capital calls.

Requirements

• 10+ years relevant experience with at least 3+ years as a senior level executive
• Experience in a senior level financial position in renewables or clean tech required, including familiarity with ITC, non-recourse project financing, project and portfolio sales, and portfolio valuation
• Proven track record in building and leading high-performing teams
• Excellent project management and organizational skills
• Deep relationships with capital providers across both corporate and project stack
• Familiarity/expertise in understanding Excel and financial models is necessary; ability to directly administer models is a plus
• Experience with ERP system implementation and data structures a plus
• Innately innovative - you question common practices and investigate thoughtfully considered alternatives
• Experience in early private equity or venture capital portfolio companies preferred

Additional Information

• Compensation: $250,000 - $350,000 plus cash bonus and incentive stock options
