SUMMARY
The intent of the sales operations team is to identify, and deliver efficiency improvements for the sales team. As part of the operations team the sales operations analyst will:
- serve as key support role to the sales, product, finance and manufacturing operations teams in gathering, analyzing and presenting on relevant marketplace, economic and competitive data relevant to strategy and forecasting decisions that deliver profitable sales growth.
- work in conjunction with both the internal business analytics team and external marketplace insights team to synthesize and prioritize the data into actionable metrics and dashboards designed to increase Pella’s marketplace knowledge and performance.
- take the project lead in assigned projects that develop and implementing new processes and tools related to increasing the efficiency of the selling team across all markets, segments, and product lines.
Areas of involvement may include demand S&OP, competitive intel & pricing, product launch effectiveness as well as promotional programs and processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Use visual analytic techniques and methods (Power BI, Excel) to share insights and metrics to their respective internal customers.
Perform ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and in-depth analytics using a variety of information sources, tools, and analytical techniques. Defining the issue to analyze, scope the effort, and use the best techniques and data sources needed are all key to this activity.
Partner with IT to improve Pella’s data practices and reporting & analytics approaches defining data and metric standards, driving automation and improved information access, BI tool selection, and other related enabling activities. Examples include but are not limited to data warehouse(s), CRM systems, transactional systems, external vendor-managed systems, and call center data.
Gather and consolidate relavent insights in support of the forecasting and budgeting process.
Assist in the analysis, organization and communication of promotions, incentives, and pricing programs.
Partner with sales operations manager, segment, finance, and product leaders, in determining the effectiveness and ROI for product launches and promotions.
Utilize continuous improvement methodologies to continually enhance the sales operational processes.
This position requires excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Problem solving and organizational skills are a must.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, analytics, statistics, or mathematics or related experience. An MBA or master’s in the fields above is preferred. Three to five years related experience and/or training. Demonstrated experience applying analytics to improve a company’s business performance. Housing, building supplies manufacturing, retailing, or related industry experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and profit margins and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to review and understand financial statements and key financial metrics. Ability to understand and communicate financial impact of investments, performance improvements and growth initiatives.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to secure, integrate, and manipulate data from a variety of sources including but not limited to Pella’s Data Warehouse, Flat file data feeds, etc. Data mining and analytic reporting tools (e.g. OBIEE, Cognos, etc.) and statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, JMP, R) - including writing syntax (SQL, etc) for statistical packages are a plus. Oracle S&OP/Demantra Module. Communication tools such as traditional Microsoft products – Excel and PowerPoint skills are critical.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None required. Market Research, SAS, or related Statistical Certifications a plus.
