About The Team
We’re seeking a strong communications professional with experience driving internal and external executive communications in a fast-paced, diverse workplace. The Executive Communications Senior Manager will serve as the go-to communications partner for Workday’s Chief Customer Officer (CCO). A primary focus for this role will be to define and lead the external communications strategy for the CCO, partnering with other key stakeholders across the company, to drive thought leadership and build presence for Workday in the market. This role will also partner closely with the CCO’s internal team to drive a strategic intra-org and global employee communications strategy that will engage, align, and inspire Workmates around our values, vision, and priorities.

The ideal individual for this role will be based in the Bay Area and possess excellent writing skills, be a self-starter, have the ability to forge strong relationships with executives and other key stakeholders, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and have the capacity to manage multiple priorities at one time. It is also preferred that this candidate brings a creative approach with strong project management skills and prior experience leading communications for a CCO or similar customer-facing executive. Key Responsibilities:
- Drive a strategic external and employee communications program for Workday’s CCO.
- Work closely with the executive to develop a message platform that informs their external narrative and support the executive on a variety of external-facing activities such as media briefings, customer-facing events, industry speaking opportunities, blogs, and more.
- Work hands-on with the executive and other key stakeholders to plan, write, edit, and distribute a variety of intra-org and global employee-focused communication materials, including materials that spotlight compelling customer stories.
- Be a strategic adviser to the CCO on messaging, tone and speaker delivery.
- Establish and track metrics that show the impact of external and employee communications on thought leadership, message alignment, and employee engagement.
- Help cultivate and grow the brand voice of Workday, leveraging humor and fun to engage and inform – working closely with other teams within Marketing to ensure a consistent brand experience.
- Partner tightly with the other teams within Corporate Communications, Marketing and other parts of the organization to ensure tight alignment of messages and narratives.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
- Proven success developing and executing strategic employee and external communications across a variety of channels.
- At least 10 years working in corporate communications, including executive communications experience, preferably in a fast-paced, high-tech company.
Other Qualifications:
- Established track record collaborating with and proactively supporting customer-facing senior leaders on communications strategies and best practices; client service mindset and consultative approach is a must.
- Ability to distill complex information into clear, concise messaging; ability to write in a simple, direct, warm and friendly tone.
- High degree of flexibility, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong project management skills are a plus.
- Outstanding writing and editing skills; ability to write for a broad spectrum of multimedia communications channels, including scripting for mainstage keynotes.
- Experience with change management and communicating key initiatives across multiple internal target audiences.
- Innovative mindset – always looking for ways to improve how Workday communicates with and engages employees, customers, and partners.
- Experience with event production and support is preferred.
- Specific knowledge and experience in the software market is favorable but not required.
