Job Title: Chief Financial Officer

Department: Management

Position Reports to: Reports directly to the CEO

Position Summary:

To manage and coordinate the financial matters of the Center and to ensure compliance with all funding sources and policies and practices of the Center.

Essential Functions:

Coordinate the preparation of all checks issued by the Center fiscal department.
Oversee and supervise all accounts payable and receivables and assure maintenance of ledgers of disbursements and receipts for each account.
Monitor status of all accounts and request the needed drawdowns and reimbursements.
Monitor all financial activities of the agency and give the bookkeeper the appropriate instructions to carry out the necessary actions.
Oversee the preparation of all financial reports on at least a monthly basis or more frequently if necessary and as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.
Assist the Chief Executive Officer in preparing the agency's grants by providing the necessary financial information.
Monitor all activities of the Center's grants to assure compliance with the requirements of the funding sources.
Meet with the Chief Executive Officer on a weekly basis, or more frequently, if necessary, to prepare and review the financial and administrative actions of the Center.
Supervise the preparation of all reports on financial requirements of the Center.
Supervise the preparation of budget proposals throughout the fiscal year.
Supervise and execute all necessary materials for the bid process related to Center activities (i.e., audit, ramps, etc.).
Supervise all audit related activities of the Center.
Supervise the preparation of all payroll records and annual W2 forms.
Make recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer on actions that need attention such as agency procedures, insurance, and benefits.
Serve as staff representative of the Management Committee.
Responsible for all duties related to building management which includes: security, leases, and maintenance.
Responsible for all activities related to the purchase of all Center equipment.
Direct overall administration of the Center in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer and when delegated those responsibilities by the Chief Executive Officer.
Serve as the Center liaison to community groups as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Participate in the outreach activities in accordance with the Center’s outreach plan.
Participate in the systems change advocacy activities of the Center.
Participate in resource development activities of the Center.
Other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Report progress and problems to the CEO.
Adhere to Center for Accessible Living, Inc. philosophy, mission statement and policies.
Advance and implement the Center for Accessible Living (CAL) mission in all aspects of the job
Maintain consumer confidentiality.
Respect the rights, values, and beliefs of consumers.
Maintain scheduled appointments.
All other duties as assigned by Center management team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in the field of accounting, MBA preferred.
Working knowledge of computer accounting software.
Two years of experience working in an accounting department in a supervisory capacity.
Experience in personnel related activities.
Excellent organizational skills.
Possession of good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Relevant life experience.
Agreement with commitment to independent living philosophy.

Desirable:

Knowledge of the Independent Living Philosophy.
Bilingual/bicultural helpful.

This position is Grant funded, renewable on an annual basis.
