CMC Partners has recently partnered with a leading market player within the Heavy Civil Construction market, who are seeking a Chief Financial officer in Georgia.
This organization operates and dominates across the Eastern region of the US. After recent record-breaking growth, this organization is looking for a highly experienced CFO / VP within Construction. This individual must have strong financial leadership, strategic, technological & analytical skills to lead this company's rapid expansion strategy. They are looking to triple their annual revenue within the next 5-10 years.
Position:
As a key member of the Executive Management team, the CFO will report to the President and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial related activities and information technology of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute long-term financial strategies aligned with business growth, capital planning, and project delivery.
- Oversee project-level financial operations, including WIP reporting, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and cash flow management across the organization.
- Ensure robust cost control systems are in place to protect margins and support project profitability.
- Evaluate financial risk in contracts and manage insurance, bonding, and compliance with GAAP and lender/surety requirements.
- Lead ERP optimization and integrate financial systems with field operations to enable real-time reporting and performance tracking.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison to external stakeholders including banks, bonding agents, auditors, and strategic partners.
- Provide financial insights and risk analysis to support executive decision-making, contract negotiations, and strategic initiatives such as M&A or market expansion.
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering collaboration across departments and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, including 5+ years in construction (heavy civil/highway preferred).
- Deep understanding of construction accounting, job costing, and project-based financial management.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300, or similar.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with DOT-funded projects and public infrastructure contracts is a plus.
