Our client is a product innovation, manufacturing, and distribution company providing affordable solutions for hospitals, health systems, pharmacies, ambulatory surgery centers, clinical laboratories, and physician offices. As a smaller but fast-growing company, this Director will be leading strategies and establishing processes, so the ability to be both hands-on and strategic is paramount.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role is responsible for the purchasing function and ensuring that inventory levels, quality, cost, supplier partner relationships, and on-time delivery are effectively managed to meet and exceed the needs of our team and the customers we serve. The role also requires a strong collaborative leader, one who inspires vision, leads by example, serves the organization and our customers, and ultimately seeks to motivate others to create an empowering, engaging, and collaborative working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the subject matter expert in all areas of the Supply Chain, including forecasting, planning, sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management.
- Manage process and ERP development to meet the current and future needs of the organization
- Responsible for 3PL relationship
- Establish and manage warranty, repair, and loaner programs with our suppliers for our capital equipment products.
- Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and processes that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, planning, and material control.
- Assist in the evaluation of new products and product launch evaluations
- Implement practices that drive efficiencies and cost savings
- Keep apprised of market conditions and communicate with the organization.
- Collaborate with Sales/Account Managers to understand forecasting, system demand loading, and corrections associated with anticipated changes to customer needs.
- Establish and implement a system to evaluate, monitor, and report supplier scorecard performance.
- Monitor inventory positions to ensure optimum inventory levels are met to achieve customer needs. Identify supply chain improvements that will enable customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement metrics to ensure company and functional goals are being met.
- Maintain adequate supply levels, demand trend analysis focused on proactive signals to the supply base.
- Supply Chain leader for IDN implementations
- Manage effective relationships with existing and potential supplier goods and services to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Coordinate and work with sales and operations to ensure on-time delivery by establishing and monitoring schedules to identify and address any issues proactively.
- Achieve financial objectives by working with management to prepare a budget, schedule and operations plan annually.
- Participate as a member of the leadership team in making cross-functional operational decisions.
- Collaborate with other functions such as Sales, Marketing, Service, and Operations to ensure the achievement of corporate goals.
- Work to build strong and lasting internal and external relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
- 7+ years of supply chain/procurement/sourcing experience
- Thorough understanding of sourcing methodologies
- Well-versed in managing inventory levels and implementing long-term supply agreements
- Comprehensive Material Requirements Planning (MRP) understanding
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
- Sound time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams
- Highly effective communicator in written/verbal and thorough presentations
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to develop and implement new programs and tools as the business evolves
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to travel as required
