The Sales Operations Consultant plays a critical role in partnering with and supporting the Americas organization and Sales Operations team. By leading the business’s daily operational cadence, the successful individual will be part analyst, process developer, and coach. S/he is first, and foremost, an enabler to the sales leaders, constantly working to simplify and/or eliminate the administrative barriers to selling. Of primary priority is the presentation and evaluation of the business’ data. Expect this to be done by creating & maintaining dashboards, querying databases, and running periodic investigations. Typical datasets will include bookings, pipeline, and forecasts. S/he will also provide analytical expertise to target growth opportunities, problem solve issues, and/or predict results of investment options.
This position requires extensive sales knowledge to understand the day-to-day experience and anticipate the needs of quota-carrying stakeholders. This person must develop rapport and credibility with the sales leaders and sellers, so people skills (empathy, forthrightness, and presence) are critical. Knowledge of the field in which Ciena operates in is beneficial.
Act as subject matter expert on Americas sales data and forecast processes.
Create and maintain reports/dashboards (using PowerBI) to account leaders on Sales pipeline status, KPIs.
Drive Sales productivity by optimizing processes to meet Sales where they are and support them in the future.
Lead efforts to ensure SalesForce is properly utilized and appropriate deal hygiene is maintained.
Conduct critical analyses in support of the business
Lead problem solving efforts on operational issues within the business.
Coach other team members on best practices and communication strategies
Partner with critical groups like finance, product, and global sales operations to deliver functional initiatives.
Strong user/developer in Power BI / Power Query / DAX
Strong database experience (query & develop)
Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
Personal commitment to customer service and building relationships
Is a team player with a collaborative approach to problem solving
Bachelors Degree in Business Management or related/equivalent
5+ years in a sales or sales support function
Significant experience with SalesForce.com is a must. Ideally this person will have multiple years of hands-on opportunity management and dashboard/report usage and creation.
2 years in high value/low volume tech is highly desired
