The Small Business Operations Manager is responsible for identifying and implementing efficient and effective sales support processes aligned with global achievement of Small Business results. The incumbent will lead a team of Small Business Development Specialists (SBDS) that will contribute to sales support activities that maximize profitable revenue generation. The Small Business Operations Manager will be tasked with driving detailed team partnerships with Small Business Consultants, Small Business Sales Directors, Field Office partners, Home Office leaders and support areas, and external partners. Focus will be on driving consistency and growth through Renewals, Enrollments, Plan Changes, NLOC, lead generation, and activity reporting.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and continually enhance best practice processes and activities to support profitable growth generation and efficiency in the Small Case segment

Execute on renewal, reenrollment, and Market Development support plans across offices/Hubs

Contribute to performance of Small Business Development Specialists through proven coaching and development techniques

Provide forward thinking leadership and be an ambassador of proactive change in the Small Business segment

Leadership of a diverse team, including all aspects of people management, selection, training, resource capacity, job design and performance management that creates a high-performance operating environment

Ensures quality, audit, and control standards through the development of effective Small Business Operations standards, policies, education, and creative training programs.

Develops Small Business workflows to meet specialized needs to ensure that appropriate client support and financial levels are met at all times

Manages internal and external customer expectations through business planning and partnering efforts throughout the corporation

Provides leadership, direction, and support to associated Small Business project teams.

Communicates sales support strategies and status to all impacted parties

Meets challenges head-on by the efficient and timely development, identification, and implementation of new strategies, solutions, and opportunities for improved service standards

May perform other duties as assigned
Job Specifications

College degree preferred plus 5-7 years of increasingly responsible management experience

Proven ability to make sound business decisions and deliver results

Full understanding of the Unum US or Colonial Life product and service portfolio preferred

Demonstrated experience in motivation, team building and collaboration

Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills – both written and verbal

Strong project management, leadership and organization skills

Proven ability to think strategically and act tactically

Solid understanding of the budget and salary administration processes, and the impact of each to productivity, morale and service levels

Overall knowledge of business workflow within Unum in general, and functional area(s) in particular

Strong Microsoft Office skills – Word, PowerPoint, Excel

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$75,500.00-$135,900.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
