Job Description

Use Your Strengths at Wellmark as our Team Leader Sales Operations!

Reporting to the VP of Sales Programs and Operations, the Team Leader Sales Operations will provide leadership to a team focused on sales and distribution strategies and their implementation. You will build strategic roadmaps for systems, tools, and resources that support our sales and distribution channels, which will require a strong understanding of customer needs. As a leader at Wellmark, you will be expected to guide, coach, and develop team members in driving effective execution of strategic objectives within product teams, ensuring outcomes are achieved. It will be critical that you develop deep knowledge of Wellmark’s distribution channels to identify opportunities for improving the experience of key distribution partners, all while driving greater efficiency.

The ideal candidate has experience leading through change and can guide team members to deliver results that meet internal and external stakeholders' needs by continuously improving the assigned products. You understand sales and distribution strategies and have insight into customer needs, enabling you to craft strategic roadmaps for the development of systems, tools, and resources that enhance sales and distribution channels. Your adeptness in translating a vision, coaching and supporting team members ensures both successful execution of work and achieving outcomes aligned with business objectives. Furthermore, you exhibit a commitment to cultivating deep knowledge of the sales lifecycle, allowing you to pinpoint opportunities for enhancing partner experiences and driving operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or direct and applicable work experience.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of related experience:
  • Leading products/programs/projects in collaboration with cross-functional/enterprise-wide teams, including senior leaders.
  • Developing and delivering products/programs/projects from concept through implementation. Skilled at ensuring quality, time, and stakeholder expectations are met while maintaining alignment with strategy.
  • Proven formal or informal leadership experience. Ability to lead, coach, engage, and develop team members in a dynamic work environment. Strong change management skills.
  • Skilled at developing strategic roadmaps based on customer needs and translating these into tactics. Establishes clear goals/expectations, develops plans, aligns resources, and monitors progress.
  • Working knowledge of related sales strategies/tactics, product distribution, segments, etc. Balances subject matter expertise and business acumen with strong understanding of customers’ needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effectively presents information and facilitates discussions with stakeholders, including senior or executive leaders.
  • Strong consulting and relationship management skills. Effectively influences others to break down barriers, resolve conflict, and foster collaboration.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; uses data to inform decisions. Thinks up/downstream and evaluates interdependencies.
  • Supports team members with creative problem solving and identifying/implementing process improvements.
  • Self-starter who works well under pressure while remaining adaptable, open to feedback, and focused during unanticipated challenges. Effective at anticipating needs and taking action.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook) and other web-based applications.
  • Ability to travel, if needed. (

    Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Knowledge of Wellmark’s sales strategies/tactics, product distribution, etc. is a plus.

    Additional Information

    • Provide day-to-day leadership of financial and human resources, primarily focusing on employee and leader coaching, development, performance improvement, coordination and budgeting for multiple staff, and department(s) specific functions/services.
    • Provide leadership for sales and distribution strategic initiative roadmaps, planning, and implementation. Collaborate across various product teams to ensure sales needs are being met and that work is being prioritized and resourced appropriately.
    • Analyze the performance of our distribution channels and seek opportunities to drive value through systems, tools, and resources that will support quoting, selling, enrollment, and reporting.
    • Develop knowledge of key systems and processes that support sales & external distribution channels to seek value added changes, improvements, and efficiencies in current processes.
    • Manage, coach, and develop team members to support their role in product teams and collaborate with sales to ensure backlog work is being prioritized effectively.
    • Act as a resource/subject matter expert to other internal areas to provide detailed service information regarding services provided.
    • Other duties as assigned.
