Position Overview:


Heartland Ventures is seeking a net-new Partner to help drive growth, engagement, and investment among current and prospective Corporate LPs and business owners in the mid-market ($50M to $2B) industrial space. This individual will be leading a team of high-performing team members who will work closely with current and prospective investors, in order to drive direct investments, customer acquisition, and strategic value for all sides. In addition, this team will work closely with the firm’s new private equity arm - evaluating and positioning Corporate LPs themselves for potential private equity investment. 


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Corporate LP acquisition and engagement strategy, including the development of GTM playbooks, hiring and training of new team members, and comprehensive KPI alignment.


  • Establish robust metrics and KPIs to track performance and identify opportunities for improvement, including developing and delivering regular reports to the partnership.


  • Drive the strategy for a strong outbound engine, expanding the firm’s network of MM industrial business owners.


  • Expand and retain Corporate LP base in established geographies, and develop comprehensive strategies for net-new market penetration.


  • Lay the groundwork for PE deal origination and serve as an asset to cross-functional team members throughout both the VC and PE due diligence processes. 


  • Connect current or prospective Corporate LPs with potential software vendors within Heartland’s current or prospective venture capital portfolio. 


  • Collaborate with other teams within the firm to ensure alignment and drive growth across the business.


Requirements


  • Demonstrated success in building and leading teams across Sales and/or Customer Success, with a preference for exposure across both functional verticals. 


  • Experience operating in an early-stage environment, preferably for a venture-backed organization (Seed, Series A, or Series B).


  • A highly data-driven mindset, with a proven ability to install operational rigor (up-leveling tech stack, designing and implementing repeatable processes, instituting net-new KPI’s, etc.). 


  • Exposure to working with business owners and executive leaders in the MM industrials space (Ex. logistics, manufacturing, field services, etc.). Open to exploring candidates with strong experience working with the broader category of HNW individuals.


  • A strong ability to distill complex software solutions into a clear and distinct value-add for non-technical buyers. 


  • A dedication to building and maintaining long-term industry relationships at scale. 


  • Exposure to management consulting and/or conducting due diligence processes will be considered a nice-to-have. 


  • Open to light travel throughout Midwestern region (~20%)
