Performs technical work relating to the reconciliation and recording of daily receipts and other payments for City business licenses, parking citations and various fees and taxes. Responds to public inquiries regarding business and revenue operation services, policies and procedures.
NOTE: The eligible list that is established from this recruitment will be used to fill Revenue Operations Specialist vacancies that occur during the life of the list. The current vacancy is in the Finance Department's Revenue Division.

Greets the public politely over the telephone and in person. Responds to inquiries regarding a variety of taxes and fees. Interprets and explains municipal codes, ordinances, resolutions and other applicable laws and regulations to the general public.
Receives payments in person, by mail and through the City's cashiering system. Records cash, checks, credit card payments, warrants and vouchers, and prepares receipts. Assigns account numbers, codes and issues receipts accordingly.
Balances cash to receipts and performs adjustments to resolve discrepancies between payments and charges.
Provides technical support to management and supervisory staff. Extracts data and prepares a variety of reports.
Makes bank deposits, as assigned.
Maintains city tax collection records and follows up on delinquent accounts.
Computes charges, interest and other financial data using a personal computer, 10-key calculator and other office equipment running specialized software.
Contacts individuals or agencies to resolve discrepancies and obtains data and general information.
Responds to inquiries, complaints and requests for information, and makes referrals to appropriate sources, as necessary.
Counts and records coin and currency, as assigned.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent. Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree or completion of the equivalent of college level coursework in Business, Accounting, Mathematics, Public Relations or a closely related field.
Four years of recent, paid work experience handling cash, balancing funds to receipts and performing fiscal support duties. Recent work experience must have included frequent contact with the public. Additional relevant work experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid Class C driver license.
