About the role:

The Deal Desk Manager position at Andela is a critical role within the Revenue Operations team, responsible for various key functions that revolve around deal management. In this role, you will act as a bridge between several departments in the organization, including sales, client services, accounting, finance, and legal. Your primary focus will be to ensure that deals are structured effectively, quotes are managed efficiently, and that non-standard deals are carefully assessed to comply with the company's policies and legal requirements.

Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day Deal Management: As the Deal Desk Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities involve overseeing the process of approving quotes and margins. It is your duty to make sure that these approvals are in line with the company's established approval matrices, which are crucial for maintaining pricing consistency and profitability.
Order Activation: You will be responsible for reviewing and activating orders that are in the pipeline. This involves managing the critical phase of order processing to ensure that the company's services are delivered to clients in a timely and efficient manner.
Conflict Resolution: Your role requires you to play a key part in resolving conflicts that may arise between what the customer requires and the company's internal operational processes. Effective communication and negotiation skills will be essential to navigate these situations and reach mutually beneficial solutions.
Deal Structure Guidance: The Deal Desk Manager provides valuable guidance on how deals should be structured, whether they are standard or more complex managed services engagements. This guidance ensures that deals strike a balance between meeting the client's needs and aligning with the company's financial and operational considerations.
Non-Standard Deals: When it comes to non-standard deals, you will be the point person representing the interests of various departments, including revenue operations, accounting, finance, and legal. Your responsibility here is to secure the necessary approvals for non-standard business terms, ensuring they adhere to legal and billing compliance and company policies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will work closely with multiple teams, including revenue operations, sales, finance, and legal, to recommend changes to deal structures based on observations and feedback from the field. This collaboration is instrumental in adapting the company's offerings to evolving market conditions and customer needs.
Subject Matter Expertise: You are expected to become a subject matter expert in all aspects of the deal operations process. This includes mastering the use of Salesforce CPQ and Billing tools, which are pivotal for maintaining operational efficiency and accuracy in the deal management process.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have 2 to 5 years of experience in deal desk, deal structuring, or sales/revenue operations roles. This experience provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of deal management.
Strong Business Acumen: A solid understanding of business operations is necessary, and prior sales experience or pricing experience is considered a plus. This knowledge enables the Deal Desk Manager to make informed decisions and align deals with business objectives.
Experience with Salesforce: Familiarity with Salesforce is essential, with experience in Salesforce CPQ & Billing considered an additional advantage. Proficiency in these tools is vital for efficient deal management.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are preferred, as they enable the Deal Desk Manager to make data-driven decisions and address complex issues.
Self-Starter with Strong Organization Skills: The role requires a self-starter with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple deals and ensure they progress smoothly through the approval and activation process.
Eager to Learn: A desire to continually learn and adapt to new developments in the field is important, given the dynamic nature of business operations.
