Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) Job Description

The CRO role creates the business growth strategy to create a stable and predictable revenue stream and executes the strategy by orchestrating all customer facing departments including sales, marketing, partnerships, and customer engagement.

Storyly is in the process of creating a global commercial hub in the UK where all regional sales and marketing teams in the UK, in the U.S., in EMEA, and APAC regions are managed by the CRO and the CRO’s commercial leadership team.

Storyly’s commercial hub in the UK works closely with the product development hub in Turkey to align the technical features of the product with the requirements of the customers.

CRO’s commercial leadership team is responsible for identifying long-term growth opportunities, informing the product development teams, and increasing revenue to support the expansion of Storyly around the world. The team includes leaders of sales, marketing, customer engagement, and strategy functions as well as product and business analysts.

On a day-to-day basis, MRR/ARR, CLV, and monthly/annual recurring revenue are the most crucial indicators for a CRO. They often inspect them by channel or by segment using the company’s central CRM platform. They ensure revenue stability by creating multiple pricing strategies based on commercial parameters in different regional markets by improving or updating price structures in response to market feedback. The CRO creates accurate revenue forecasts to help the company expand at a predictable and sustainable pace. They provide other departments with reliable revenue forecasts, which they can later use to plan their costs and build growth strategies based on their domain expertise.

As a cross-functional leader, the CRO creates necessary SOPs and structures to improve sales and marketing team results. They help streamline customer facing processes by finding issues, inefficiencies, and obstacles that could affect the company’s growth.

In collaboration with the marketing team, the CRO creates new monetization strategies for existing and new revenue streams such as bundling, cross-selling, up-sales, and down-sales. When necessary, they work with the product and marketing teams to evolve the existing product features or their market positioning. Storyly’s customer engagement and account management team reports the CRO who helps them find initiatives that reduce customer churn and boost revenue. This is vital for Storlyly as customer churn greatly impacts company revenue due to Software as a Service (SaaS) business model.

Key requirements for the role include but not limited to:

An engineering degree with a background in Research and Development and entrepreneurial experience in advertising and marketing technology companies
Demonstrated problem solving skills and business experience necessary to create stable revenue streams in a B2B environment, ideally within the Marketing tech industry.
Proven experience in building systems of growth in startup companies and scaling them up, while managing the budget, cash flow, PnL, and forecasting revenue
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Turkish and English to maintain progress and operations among sales, marketing, and customer engagement teams
Solid understanding of commercializing mobile SDKs and proficient in technical terminology and technical constraints
Demonstrable experience and concrete understanding of product management concepts, commercial life cycle of SaaS products, and necessary research and development know-how
Proven management experience leading with multinational and cross-functional teams in the mobile industry
Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze large quantities of data to create actionable business insights
Hands-on experience in sales operations, sales planning, CRM, and marketing tools
Ability to monitor, coach, and develop sales teams focused on enterprise accounts in a B2B environment, ideally within the Marketing tech industry
Proven ability to assess the market trends, customer demand, workforce requirements, and take calculated risks for the benefit of the company
Ability to design and lead end-to-end sales cycle including the RfP, demo, trial, upsell/cross-sell, and revenue collection processes
Previous C-level leadership experience in a high-growth start-up environment is preferred

Ensuring revenue stability by creating multiple pricing strategies based on commercial parameters in different regional markets
Improving or updating price structures in response to market feedback
Working closely with the board of directors (BoD) in order to align our overall business strategy with our goals for sales growth,
Preparing and presenting commercial reports to the board on a regular basis
Creating accurate revenue forecasts to help the company expand at a predictable and sustainable pace
Providing other departments with reliable revenue forecasts
Creating new monetization strategies for existing and new revenue streams such as bundling, cross-selling, up-sales, and down-sales
Working closely with the product and marketing teams to evolve the existing product features or their market positioning
Identifying initiatives that reduce customer churn and boost revenue by collaborating cross-functionally
Inspiring and motivating team members, providing them with the guidance the teams need to succeed
Creating necessary SOPs and structures
Streamlining customer facing processes by finding issues, inefficiencies, and obstacles that could affect the company’s growth
