POSITION SUMMARY:

The Chief Revenue Officer ("CRO") is a key member of the CFL’s Executive Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Commissioner. They will own end-to-end revenue generation at the CFL, creating and executing strategies to maximize revenue streams. This includes deepening existing partner relationships, building new partnerships and

defining and executing on new business verticals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own the revenue strategy for the CFL, driving partnership acquisition and retention through strong relationship building and ongoing partner engagement strategies.

• Establish and implement sales and revenue growth strategies, initiatives, and policies that align with the League Office’s strategy house and business plan.

• Develop deep, meaningful relationships with decision makers at national brands and agencies across Canada.

• Continuously evaluate market trends, partner needs, and the competitive landscape to identify strategic opportunities to maximize our growth.

• Identify strategies for improving the League’s approach to driving partnership and digital media revenue for team member clubs, as well as the League office. This includes the identification of best-in-class selling tools and processes that drive success.

• Oversee the CFL’s commercial rights leaseback program strategy, execution and pricing, including the implementation and improvement of timely asset utilization and reporting to maximize the sale of available and unsold assets.

• Work in tandem with the Data, Events, Digital and Marketing teams at the League office, in addition to all nine member Clubs, to oversee the generation of an integrated national sponsorship and digital media agreements.

• Scale and foster a high-performing sales culture focused on revenue attainment through delivering value to our partners. Establish aggressive sales targets, optimize continuously, and coach & mentor the team.

• Seek to expand our partners’ lifetime value through upselling, cross-selling, and retention initiatives.

• Continuously assess partner performance and provide guidance to enhance our partnership capabilities.

• Maintain a robust new business pipeline of partnership prospects throughout the year, generated through research, prospecting and strategic outreach.

• Expand on existing channels, partnerships, and verticals.

• Oversee strategic and long-term functioning of department activities and bring organization-wide strategic issues, recommendations, and solutions to the table.

• Lead the team to develop and optimize the sales process, forecasting, pipeline generation/management, and pricing models.

• Continuously improve insights by implementing comprehensive analytics and reporting systems to track key revenue metrics, pipeline, sales performance, and ROI.

• Oversee the monetization and sale of unsold US broadcast inventory to maximize return for the CFL.

• Work cross-functionally with other internal departments to identify, refine and develop sales materials for sponsored opportunities that successfully support broader organizational objectives.

• Collaborate and partner closely with Marketing to develop tailored content, campaigns, and events to drive the partnership strategy.

• Work cross-functionally with other departments to leverage Marketable Fan strategy, with a goal of generating incremental partnership assets and revenue.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE):

• Significant experience (15+ years) in progressively responsible revenue generating roles, including leadership positions.

LOCATION:

The CFL League Office is in Toronto (50 Wellington St. East). All employees must be willing and able to attend the office at least two days per week. In addition, all employees will be required to attend meetings or other business events at the league office or other venues as business needs dictate.
