About Fresh Youth Initiatives (FYI): FYI is a dynamic community-based organization that supports youth to reach their greatest potential. Founded in 1993, FYI’s vision is to disrupt intergenerational poverty and to achieve educational equity and well-being for our community of Latinx immigrant and first-generation youth and families. In 2007, FYI planted its roots in the community, constructing a four-story headquarters and community center on West 171st Street in Washington Heights. FYI has since evolved into a multi-site, multi-service agency serving 2,000 Washington Heights/Inwood children and adults annually with programs that embrace a whole-child approach. FYI’s programs are carried out by a bilingual/ bicultural staff, 90% of whom are immigrants or first-generation Americans, approximately a third of whom are former participants in our programs.

THE CHIEF REVENUE OFFICER. The CRO plays a crucial role in the organization by providing strong and strategic leadership for all aspects of fundraising and communications. An ideal candidate will be a seasoned fundraiser who is outspoken and an excellent listener, autonomous and collaborative, able to diversify FYI’s funding model and work with the Executive Director and Senior Leadership team to build a sustainable future for the organization. The CRO’s primary objective is to create significant awareness about FYI's work and to actively engage funders and supporters. They report directly to the Executive Director and work closely with the board of directors, senior staff members, and consultants to manage all external communications and fundraising-related activities. Working at FYI offers the opportunity to support an organization with deep roots in a local community whose work is scalable on a city, state, and national level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead all revenue generations efforts for this organization with a budget of approximately $4 million.

· Devise and then execute multi-year development and external communications plans that supports the strategic plan of the organization with a focus on ensuring the organization builds and maintains a highly diversified portfolio that includes earned income, government grants, foundation and corporate supports, as well as major gifts and events.

· Build and manage a small team to support this department with responsibility to manage development and external communications for the organization.

· Support the Executive Director through strong board relationships, act as the staff liaison to the board of directors and lead the development committee of the board.

· Build and maintain a robust grants calendar with responsibilities for relationship-building, research and prospecting, and grant writing/reporting.

· Implement major gifts and earned income programs for the organization.

· Manage all government grant acquisitions.

· Lead the policy/advocacy and press relations operations for the organization, as they support building resources for the organization.

· Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the donor database

· Manage relevant consultants, ensuring effective service to the organization.

Qualifications

· Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a successful development professional with in-depth knowledge of all aspects of fundraising and communications, preferably with experience in raising funds for community development and/or culturally responsive organizations.

· A successful track record of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts and corporate donors

· Extensive fundraising event planning experience

· Knowledge of NYC and national fundraising landscape

· Exceptional written and oral communication skills

· Strong time management skills and ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines

· Ability to cultivate strong relationships with members of the board of directors, staff, donors and other stakeholders

· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable

· Familiarity with common donor database and fundraising software

· Ability to take initiative, work independently, and adapt to shifting priorities

· Ability to work flexible hours – some evenings required (up to several times/month) for board meetings, fundraising events and other functions

· Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, equity and inclusion

Pay: From $130,000.00 per year
