A small but rapidly growing Life Insurance company is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer. Central NJ location is preferred but can be remote.

About the Company

Founded in 1977 and currently holding a small book of life and A&H business, the company was acquired in 2024, recapitalized and is presently modernizing its systems and infrastructure. The company is applying for additional state authority and plans to be licensed in 48 states by the end of 2026. The company has strong and committed capital partners and exceptional executive leadership, which has extensive life company management, product development and distribution experience. Management intends to enter the Annuity market in the third quarter of 2025.

About the Position

Reporting to the President, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as the principal financial strategist, overseeing all financial operations that ensure the company's fiscal health and regulatory compliance. This role is expected to serve as a key advisor to both the President and the CEO and to be a vital participant in strategic decision-making. The position will be part of the executive management team.

Key Responsibilities

· Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the development of financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term financial strategies. Analyze financial performance to guide business decisions and identify growth opportunities. Oversee operational cash flow, including receiving and disbursing assets in conjunction with the asset manager.

· Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and statutory requirements. This includes managing both statutory filings and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) financial statements.

· Regulatory Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance industry regulations and ensure the company's adherence to all financial reporting and solvency requirements. This involves overseeing solvency calculations and ensuring sufficient capital reserves to meet policyholder obligations. Working with actuarial resources to implement strategic initiatives, while ensuring regulatory compliance.

· Risk Management: Develop and implement comprehensive risk management frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks associated with underwriting, investments, and operations. This includes leveraging data analytics and actuarial models for effective risk assessment. Provide oversight of the enterprise risk management program.

· Investment Management: Formulate investment strategies that align with the company's risk tolerance and liability profile. Oversee the investment portfolio to optimize returns while ensuring liquidity to meet claim obligations.

· Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the President and other senior executives to shape the company's strategic direction. Provide financial insights to support decisions on mergers, acquisitions, and capital-raising initiatives.

· Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary financial spokesperson, effectively communicating financial performance and strategies to internal and external stakeholders, including the board of directors, regulators, investors, and rating agencies.

Qualifications

· Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required; a master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are preferred.

· Experience: Extensive experience in financial management within the life insurance industry, with a deep understanding of life insurance operations, regulatory environment, and financial reporting requirements. Must have experience working with state regulators and auditors as well as supervisory experience managing accounting staff.

· Skills: Strong analytical abilities, strategic thinking, leadership qualities, and excellent communication skills are essential. Proficiency in financial modeling and familiarity with financial management and reporting technologies is preferred.
