MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree, MBA preferred
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a sales management capacity in the CPG industry, including 2 years leading Sales Managers at the Director of Sales level.
Strong preference for experience in food categories, and preference for experience in frozen food.
Strong preference for experience with direct selling teams with only nominal reliance on broker representation.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

People development - builds the Retail Sales team of the future by optimizing organization structure, advancing team capabilities, developing team members’ skills and careers, and creating effective succession plans
Leads the Retail Sales Team as part of the Retail Business Unit (RBU), which serves customers in the Mass, Grocery, Club, and Dollar Channels
Assists the SVP of Retail and Food Service Sales and Marketing in managing the P&L of the RBU
Develops and executes strategic and tactical plans to achieve volume, revenue, and profit targets
Analyzes relevant internal and external data to identify consumer, category, and customer trends for the purpose of shaping strategies and tactics and evaluating performance
Oversees the daily work of all Retail Sales functions and team members through a group of seven direct reports who in turn manage salespeople, retail business administrators, sales operations, ecommerce, trade strategy, revenue growth management, and category management
Actively participates in development of the company’s Strategic Plan (5-10 years.) Identifies and develops specific Retail Sales strategic opportunities for the Strategic Plan.
Leads the development of portions of the RBU Annual Business Plan, including volume, revenue, trade budgets, all cost centers, and profit margin targets
Directs sales forecasting activities by salespeople and analysts and owns the total forecast
Meets with key customers, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
Liaison between Sales and other internal departments. Close partner with Marketing on product and advertising plans, with Finance on pricing and costs and profit margins, and with Operations on supply chain efficiencies and customer service.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for forecasting and achieving aggressive sales growth targets, achieving profit margin targets, and leading annual and long-term strategic planning. Responsible for building the Retail Sales team of the future by optimizing organization structure, advancing team capabilities, developing team members’ skills and careers, and creating effective succession plans. Responsible for building and maintaining strong customer partnerships, especially joint business planning and top-to-top relationships with key customers. Responsible for working collaboratively with Finance, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure Ruiz Foods is a customer-preferred supplier, and to achieve efficiencies in all areas of the business connected to customers.
