Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for our client, a wonderful nonprofit mental healthcare provider in Lafayette, Indiana! This incredible role works hands-on driving incredible revenue growth that makes a real and tangible impact in the Indiana community! This full-time position is for immediate hire!

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Chief Financial Officer will develop, implement, and monitor departmental and organizational strategies to optimize the financial performance of the organization while prioritizing its mission of supplying high-quality mental health and addiction services to clients. Working closely with the CEO, leadership, and management, they will also contribute to the creation of administrative and financial protocols for the organization. The right candidate will be a future-focused collaborator with the ability to analyze, innovate, and forecast, as well as develop and improve new ideas, systems, and technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:

In collaboration with the CEO and leadership team, develop and implement administrative and financial protocols for the distribution of mental health and addiction services across the organization.
Drive the organization’s financial strategy, including planning, operation, and management.
Work with managers to develop the organization’s annual budget, regularly providing forecasts and reports to management/leadership as well as the Board of Directors.
Produce and supply financial trend analysis that is understandable and actionable.
Guide all financing activities in the collection of receivables, disbursements of payables, and management of fixed assets.
Prepare the annual operating budget and fiscal year-end independent audit.
Identify opportunities for expansion into new service areas and geographical locations.
Study long-range economic trends, projecting their impact on future organizational growth.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
10+ years of experience with at least 5 years of experience as a CFO, Controller, Director of Finance, or relevant leadership role.
Robust knowledge of accounting principles and the financial revenue cycle.
Possesses a general knowledge of health care or the mental health industry.
Demonstrated ability to ventilate and decompress with team members utilizing consideration, compassion, and vulnerability in the challenging mental health industry.
Strong client-facing skills, including active listening, communication, critical thinking, dedication, empathy, and self-improvement.
Ability to reliably commute or relocate to Lafayette, Indiana.
Willingness to work onsite 5 days per week.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Business Administration (MBA) and/or licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Experience in community mental health centers, integrated care, or nonprofit environments.
Familiarity with behavioral health, the cost-based reimbursement model, and/or fee for service (FFS) programs in the mental health industry.
