VP OF OPERATIONS FULL JOB DESCRIPTION:

TopView Sightseeing is a New York-based double-decker bus company offering a variety of sightseeing tours by bus, bike, and boat. Our growing team of native local experts serves over 1,500 customers daily, and visitors to the Big Apple can experience New York City with unforgettable views. As we build our new brand, we are growing tremendously and striving to enhance the customer experience across our network of brands.

We are looking for an energetic and experienced Vice President of Operations to build a highly efficient, revenue-oriented, and optimized department while achieving a top level of customer satisfaction. Working alongside marketing, sales, and operations executives, the candidate will identify and develop new revenue growth opportunities.

The right candidate is a high-energy, motivated professional with exceptional leadership skills, time management skills, good communication abilities, and an understanding of task tracking and project management approaches.

THE POSITION

The VP of Operations must own all phases of facility and bus operations for the organization, including safe and punctual execution of a large variety of products i.e. Downtown Tour, Uptown Tour, Night Tour, etc., new project construction oversight, engineering team management, resource management, strategic planning, and bus fleet maintenance.

The VP of Operations must possess specialized technical and operational knowledge while being responsible for every aspect of the operations. The VP must appreciate and support the organization's mission and vision while challenging the organization to improve its operating effectiveness and efficiency. The right candidate must identify and bring forth new ideas and opportunities and encourage change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ultimately responsible for adequate headcount for Operations Managers, Supervisors, Dispatchers, and Bus Operators based on seasonality and the company’s short and long-term goals.
Together with the team leaders, develop and maintain SOPs/training manuals for all operations positions.
Execute a training routine for all positions to ensure that employees are adequately trained for their specific roles and take on new skills and responsibilities. Foster a culture of growth and learning.
Standardize offered products by coming up with a comprehensive manual for each of the products, detailing a to z what the product is in terms of timeline, service, inventory, etc.
Motivate teams to exceed performance goals through training, mentoring, competitions, and creative incentives. Evaluate the team's performance by setting KPIs and, deadlined goals.
Responsible for ensuring high-end service and customer satisfaction by holding the teams accountable to the highest standards.
Be technology-oriented. Look for areas of the business that the use of technology/software can optimize.
Using technology, organize a project's workflow, ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks, and monitor their productivity.
Periodically review operations processes to improve the flow and efficiency between teams and team members.
Stay informed on industry trends and make suggestions to ownership about new trends, and potential new revenue streams.
Comply with DOT, DMV, DCA, OSHA, and EPA requirements and guidelines.
Hold the fleet of Double Decker Buses conditioned both mechanically and cosmetically to the highest standards.
Contribute to the company's safety procedures and training materials. Foster a culture of safety.
Responsible for a weekly P&L report
Monitor the financial performance of the different teams in the division to improve on costs and drive profitability. Foster a “Do more with less” culture.
Analyze and optimize department costs. Provide other departments with the operational costs of running different types of services.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
Obtain permits from local authorities in various cities for bus operations.
Establishes and implements short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness and effects changes required for improvement.
Provides strategic advice and recommendations to leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating new or modified operating policies, practices, and procedures within the specified functional area of focus.
Analyzes, designs, documents, and implements internal reporting systems and procedures for the organization.
Represent the organization to governmental agencies, national organizations, and/or the general public; may represent the principal executive at various community and/or business meetings, as assigned.
Report daily to the Senior Vice President and advise regarding improvements for the department.
Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

Significant experience in the operation of large teams in a fast past environment where changes are constant.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize effectively, work well under pressure, and adhere to time-sensitive deadlines.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to influence a team of managers.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead a department in achieving operational and organizational goals.
Strong working knowledge of supervisory principles and practices, with the ability to delegate effectively, motivate and inspire staff while fostering a service and safety culture. Proven ability to manage performance, provide feedback, and mentor staff.
Strong presentation, oral, and written communication skills to articulate and present complex issues.
Strong Computer Skills, including Google Docs.
Ability to work flexible and extended hours as needed
Must have availability to work weekends and holidays
Experience with inventory management and maintenance software systems
Knowledgable in DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations is a plus

COMPENSATION

$225k - $275k Annually + 15% Preformance Bonus
