The Job & Company
Our client, a burgeoning Edinburgh B2B SaaS startup has been building its product & client base for years. At its most simple, their products are Data Platforms, partially powered by AI, that allows their clients to better achieve their central aims. The central aim for them in this endeavour is to use data & AI for moral, sustainable purposes that benefits communities.
They have built a stable & varied client base across public & private sector. Having achieved some stability, it is now ready to bring in a CRO to grow their revenue streams to the next level. The team is still small (under 20 people) but has had sales success from a mixture of referrals, cold response to tenders, and some expansion within current customers.
This CRO position is likely to appeal to candidates who are currently working in a very senior sales or business development role at the moment – for example, Head of Sales or Commercial / Sales Directors or VPs. The company is very open to the idea this role will be filled by someone who is taking a step up in their career so this hire does not need to have prior C-suite experience, although that certainly wouldn’t hurt for any interested parties. The successful applicant is likely to come with previous experience of working in a startup and an understanding of the associated challenges.
This is a vital hire at a critical time in the company’s history so the opportunity for someone to have a huge impact, grow their career, and potentially reap rewards for it are all likely to be highly appealing.
The Skills & Experience Required
- Must have strong B2B SaaS sales experience, preferably within startups or SMEs
- Demonstrable history of growing a company’s revenue from around the £1m ARR to £10m ARR (or reasonable success within that type of subscription range).
- Enterprise sales experience
- Proven sales playbook
- Happy to sell and lead closing deals (skills in both sales strategy and closing needed)
- Bonus if public sector, energy or transport experience, although not vital
- Someone analytical & data-literate, who likes playing with data & understanding the meaning behind data.
