The Strategic Partnerships team supports Citi’s U.S Personal Banking’s (USPB) partnership efforts. Our Partnership vertical manages client outreach, relationship management, contract negotiations and execution with major external partners.
The
SVP, Strategic Partnerships Manager Senior Lead Officer will work closely with the Strategic Partnership leadership team to support the growth of Citi’s U.S Personal Bank (USPB). The successful candidate for this high impact role requires expertise in negotiation, relationship management (internally and externally), as well as having astute financial acumen and an exceptional understanding of the payments industry, financial services, and digital commerce. Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally and externally, often at a senior level. The individual will provide leadership and expertise on informing, solving and driving the execution of the most critical strategic partnerships and negotiations for the U.S Personal Bank
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute short- and long-term partnership strategies for the U.S Personal Banking division to ensure growth and delivery of the financial plan.
- Responsible for evaluating potential transactions and business cases from a strategic, operational and financial perspective.
- Proactively partner with the U.S Personal Banking businesses to identify and implement strategic and tactical initiatives that provides Citi with a sustainable competitive advantage in the marketplace- includes identifying potential partners, define partnership construct and negotiate and execute agreements.
- Assist in evaluating the internal and external business environment to develop a long term overall partnership strategy for the organization
- Oversee key analysis and support negotiations while working closely with internal and external partners to structure and execute transactions.
- Lead or assist in client meetings and pitches, providing strategic advice and proposals.
- Manage internal and external processes for sourcing, evaluating, winning and closing new partner programs and retention of existing relationships.
- Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities.
- Work with product specialists and subject matter experts across the bank to structure customized solutions that meet unique partner needs.
- Serve as day-to-day Partner Liaison regarding product strategy, technology development and business execution to ensure successful execution of partnership initiatives.
- Work with functional team and partner to develop financial and strategic business cases for new initiatives, enhancements and modifications to existing products.
- Drive product and digital innovation of new/improved ways to deliver value, enhance performance, service customers and improve processes.
- Develop presentations for all levels of the organization and partner articulating the strategic plan, deal construct, benefits and contingency plans.
- Monitor processes and controls to ensure contractual compliance commitment.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred, Project Management experience. Financial services business experience required.
- Experience managing large partnership relationships and experience with senior client executives.
- Requires relationship skills, strategic thought leadership, and effective communication/presentation abilities. Significant Organizational and Project Management
- Requires solid track record in managing complex business & partner needs.
- In depth knowledge of financial services, digital commerce, payment industry
- Demonstrated success in managing internal and external partnerships and ability to negotiate complex structures.
- Communication/presentation & influence management skills; must have ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and across all functional areas within a highly matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated thought leadership and strategic agility. Ability to work well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented, environment.
