Job Summary:
Under executive direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides day-to day financial oversight for the Council and supports the CEO in ensuring that resource allocation and utilization reflects and facilitates the achievement of goals set by the Council’s Board of Directors (Board). The CFO also partners with the CEO and COO to develop the Council’s strategy and capital plans; administers and monitors operating plans and budgets; maintains control of Council finances; manages all accounts and financial records; prepares and issues financial statements and reports; and coordinates the annual audit. Ultimately, the CFO is responsible for directing the Council’s fiscal function in accordance with generally accepted accounting and financial principles and regulations.
JOBRESPONSIBILTIIES:
· In conjunction with the CEO and COO, prepares the general operating and capital budgets for presentation to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors, ensuring financial systems and procedures comply with the Council’s financial and legal policies, practices and regulations.
· Monitors performance of the approved budget and the financial stability of GSHH.
· Ensures that all Council financial operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal and not-for-profit regulations, guidelines and laws.
· Oversees day-to-day administration and control of the accounting and treasury functions to safeguard Council assets and to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately, timely, and are recorded in keeping with accepted accounting standards and principles.
· Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends to assist the CEO and Executive Team in decision-making and goal execution.
· Manage the Director of Retail and Product Sales, including the establishment of procedures for Monitors sales, general expenses, and inventories related to retail and product sales.
· Management responsibilities for Sr Accountant and Staff Accountant
· Directs the monthly closing of the accounting records.
· Manages and understands investment performance, by reviewing guidelines and benchmarks in managing the portfolio, setting return expectations and monitoring actual returns.
· Oversees all financial reporting activities, providing the CEO, Board of Directors and Finance Committee and department heads with accurate and up-to-date information on the financial activities.
· Serves as the lead on the Council’s annual audit process.
· Oversees financial and operational audits, identify opportunities for improved efficiencies, and supervise the implementation of improvements to internal controls and/or operating procedures.
· Manages IT operations and staff for GSHH and acts as liaison with external computer support services.
· Serves as a key member of the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams.
· Provides counsel to the CEO in the formulation of overall fiscal policies and plans regarding both short and long-term financial matters related to GSHH.
· Represents the CEO to internal stakeholders of the Council.
· Ensures fiscal accountability in all departments and with all staff.
· Establishes strong and productive relationships with direct reports including regular communication, timely performance feedback, and the opportunity for training and development opportunities,
· Models high levels of motivation, performance, and commitment.
· Advises the CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee and Audit Committee on all matters pertaining to finance policy to ensure that financial strategies, decisions and functions effectively facilitate achievement of Council goals.
· Contributes to overall effectiveness by providing critical staff support to task forces established by the Board of Directors, and, by participating as directed, as a team member of the Finance and Audit Committees.
· Represents the Council in partnership with Fund Development on all grant submittals to include the preparation of necessary budgets, and participation in grant presentations, in order to respond to financial inquiries regarding grant submissions.
· Represents the CEO to external stakeholders of the Council.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS
· Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, capital planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
· Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data, general and fund accounting practices and principles, budget development, nonprofit operations, accounting controls, cash management, taxation issues, grants, private contributions, audit requirements, and other related functions.
· Knowledge of administrative and business principles and procedures such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and coordination of people and resources.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work successfully with colleagues, stakeholders and volunteers.
· Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
· Ability to use specialized accounting software with proficiency; ABILA and/or MIP preferred.
· Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and to choose the most appropriate one.
· Ability to identify and analyze complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
· Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work, maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, including thoroughness and proactive follow-up.

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; graduate degree strongly preferred.
· Minimum of five years recent, relevant professional experience required
· Minimum of five years supervisory experience required.
· Experience working in a nonprofit organization preferred.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Teams software, and Financial Packages - Abila, MIP and Salesforce preferred.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired.
