Position Overview: Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated individual to join our organization as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Under this role, you will play a crucial role in providing timely and accurate accounting information regarding operational decisions of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley. This includes financial statement preparation and working to improve accounting procedures, internal controls database management, and other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Responsibilities:
1. Primary Responsibilities:
a. Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure the fiscal health and sustainability of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley.
b. Create and manage the annual budget, as well as provide regular financial forecasts and analysis to support decision-making.
c. Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and grant-related financial documentation for both internal and management and external auditors.
d. Ensure grant compliance with all financial regulations, including tax-exempt status requirements, grant reporting, and auditing.
e. Collaborate with fundraising and development teams to provide financial data and analysis to support fundraising efforts and grant applications.
f. Manage cash flow and liquidity to ensure the organization can meet its financial obligations.
g. Identify and manage financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
h. Work closely with the Advisory Board to provide financial transparency and guidance.
i. Explore and implement revenue diversification strategies, such as investments and partnerships to support Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valleys’ mission.
j. Prepare and submit financial reports for federal grants.
2. Management Responsibilities:
a. Supervise and review work prepared by staff and provide verbal and written performance feedback as needed
b. Supervise staff on best practices, policy and procedures, program trends, and successful partnership with vendors/donors
c. Motivate and communicate effectively with staff
3. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
a. Highly experienced in federal grant management
b. Embrace CCRGV’s values and behaviors that support the values
c. Experience with accounts receivable operations
d. Experience with the preparation of journal entries and balance reconciliations
e. Experience with accounts payable processing and preparing vouchers
f. General Ledger management and the ability to prepare, and process general journal adjusting entries and closing entries
g. Documented experience in closing monthly income statements and preparation of trial balance
h. Knowledge of and ability to interpret GAAP
i. Strong written and oral communication skills
j. Maintain confidentiality
k. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
l. Strong customer service skills
m. Ability to exercise sound judgment and to make timely, value-based decisions
n. Proven ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
o. Ability to excel in fast-paced, changing, and challenging environments
p. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
Educational & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with CPA license preferred
- Five to ten years of accounting or related experience in a non-profit, association or CPA firm doing not-for-profit audits or consulting
- Minimum of three years of management experience

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
