- Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and professional growth.
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to finance staff, promoting their development and ensuring their alignment with organizational goals.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with other departments to ensure financial considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
- Financial Planning:
- Evaluate financial risks and opportunities, providing recommendations for mitigating risks and optimizing financial performance.
- Collaborate with the rest of the executive team to develop long-term financial plans and goals.
- Financial Operations Management:
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, payroll, grants management, retirement benefits and financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Code of Federal Regulations, Service Contract Act, Davis Bacon Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Collective Bargaining Agreements and any other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain effective financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Monitor cash flow, investments, and banking relationships to optimize liquidity and maximize returns.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits (which may include Defense Contract Audit Agency audits) and ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements, including tax filings and financial disclosures.
- Stay updated on applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards to ensure compliance and recommend necessary adjustments.
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks through effective risk management practices.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, statements, and forecasts for the board of directors, executive team, and external stakeholders.
- Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Present financial information in a clear and concise manner to facilitate understanding and informed decision-making.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position oversees all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, the frequent use of hands to finger, and reach with hands and arms is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and business hours are Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. Longer hours, evenings and weekend work will be necessary as required.
Travel
This position requires the ability to travel to satellite locations and/or conferences. Some overnight is required.
Required Education and Experience
- BS/BA in accounting, or finance.
- Proven experience of eight (5) years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles.
- Three (3) years’ supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Proficiency in financial software and technology tools.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in accounting and a CPA certification.
- Experience in the non-profit sector or organizations operating under the AbilityOne program.
- Greater than two (2) years’ recent work experience dealing with a budget of at least $20 million in an organization with multiple lines of business.
Licenses/Work Authorization/Security Clearance
- Valid Driver’s License with certificate of insurability (corporate auto policy).
- NACI Military background check.
- Drug screen.
