Role Overview
Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, ensuring strong financial governance, and driving strategic initiatives. The role includes managing a small team of accountants and a financial controller, supporting capital-raising efforts.
This is a hands-on, office-based role in Cardiff, requiring a commercially minded finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function, overseeing financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Manage and mentor a small team of accountants and a financial controller, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO and senior leadership team to support business growth and profitability.
- Assist the CEO in capital-raising activities, including liaising with investors, lenders, and other financial stakeholders.
- Oversee the company’s transition from Xero to a Sage accounting platform, ensuring a smooth and efficient migration process.
- Maintain robust financial controls, risk management frameworks, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement financial policies, processes, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor and optimise working capital and liquidity management.
- Support commercial decision-making through financial analysis and insights.
- Oversee tax planning, statutory reporting, and liaise with external auditors and advisors.
Candidate Profile
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven track record in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within a related financial services environment.
- Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and capital management.
- Hands-on experience with finance system migrations, particularly moving from Xero to Sage, is highly desirable.
- Commercially astute with the ability to drive business growth and profitability.
- Experience in managing investor relations, fundraising, and working with lenders.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with a hands-on approach.
