Chief Financial Officer | Private Equity-Backed Services Platform
Finatal is partnering with a leading private equity firm to appoint a Chief Financial Officer for a high-growth, tech-enabled services platform. The business operates a scalable non-asset based model, logistics and transportation brokerage.
The company is currently generating approximately ~$300m of revenue, with a clear value creation plan to grow significantly over the next five years of the hold as it was recently acquired by the sponsor. Backed by an experienced sponsor, the business is focused on driving continued organic growth, improving operational visibility, and building the infrastructure required to support a materially larger platform at exit.
This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity for a commercially oriented CFO to partner closely with the President, CEO, and sponsor. The incoming CFO will be responsible for upgrading financial visibility, strengthening forecasting and performance management, and helping scale the business through its next phase of growth in a flat, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, build, and scale the finance function, enhancing reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end processes to support a growing national platform
- Lead FP&A and performance management, creating greater transparency into revenue drivers, productivity, margins, and overall business performance
- Partner with leadership to improve decision-making through actionable financial insights, scenario planning, and KPI development
- Drive cash flow discipline and working capital management across a high-volume, transaction-driven operating model
- Support the execution of the value creation plan, ensuring the business is financially and operationally prepared to scale significantly
- Professionalize systems, processes, and controls to support growth and future exit readiness
- Manage banking, lender, and investor relationships, including liquidity planning, capital structure support, and ongoing stakeholder communication
- Act as a low-ego, highly collaborative business partner within a flat organizational structure
Requirements
- Current CFO with 15+ years of relevant experience
- Background in scaled, multi-site or distributed service-based business models preferred (e.g., business services, tech-enabled services, or similar)
- Strong operational finance skillset, including FP&A, working capital management, and performance improvement in a growth environment
- Proven experience helping scale a business through a meaningful growth phase, ideally with a clear value creation plan
- Private equity-backed experience required; prior experience supporting an exit is highly attractive
- Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with evolving processes and infrastructure
- Strong executive presence with the ability to partner effectively with management and investors
- Open to candidates based in or willing to travel regularly to the Southeast and frequent travel to HQ in North Carolina.
