Job Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the family and their investments. The ideal candidate will oversee financial reporting and tax planning for the Family Office and portfolio companies, ensuring compliance with ongoing financial covenants, risk management, and accounting functions. This role offers significant potential for growth, including shaping long-term strategic investment and portfolio management objectives, and managing relationships with external service providers.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee and prepare financial reports for Family Office, support portfolio company reporting on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Ensure compliance with covenants (if applicable) and monitor adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Oversee cash flow management, financial planning and analysis, and treasury operations to ensure optimal liquidity and financial efficiency.
- Partner closely with the Family Office team and external service providers to deliver quarterly updates to Family Office Principals, as well as more frequent reports as needed.
- Track and evaluate fees on invested assets, monitor funded and unfunded commitments, and support the preparation of annual budgets, liquidity planning, and account reconciliations.
- Review and reconcile investments, partnership interests, and intercompany transactions on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Manage the preparation, execution, and recordkeeping of wire transfers for all Family Office entities, including those related to working capital and other transactions.
- Take responsibility in working with external tax accountants for state and federal income tax returns, quarterly tax estimates, and year-end tax planning for the Family Office and associated entities.
- Collaborate with external accountants to implement tax-efficient structures and strategies, including the establishment of entities to optimize investments with minimal tax implications.
- Manage and maintain relationships with banking institutions for the Family Office and its portfolio companies.
- Collaborate with debt providers to secure funding for assets and strategic transactions.
- Lead risk management and insurance functions, driving ongoing improvements in internal controls and operational processes.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Supervise and provide guidance to Staff Accountant.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- 10+ years of experience financial planning or financial accounting for privately held, US-based entities.
- Bachelors and/or Master's degree in accounting, CPA required: CFP designation or MBA a plus.
- Experience from Big 4, large public accounting firm, or investment company and/or Family Office preferred, must have working knowledge of GAAP and tax basis accounting.
- Experience with building management and related financial reporting a plus.
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office products (required)
- Ability to work with multiple entities and intercompany transactions.
- Positive, open attitude with flexibility to work on different projects under different timelines.
- An energetic, efficient and resourceful team player and self-starting individual contributor.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills, coupled with high confidentiality, integrity and proven history to perform high quality work.

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $250,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year
